Official Totemple Trading Card Game™

The Official Totemple™ Trading Card Game was released in 472 SE as a marketing scheme for the Totemple™ Trading Company. The game involves trading and battling cards that depict various creatures of nature. A battle is played between 2 people at a time.   The cards have different attack, health and cost scores, along with various sigils giving them unique powers. Most cards cost sacrifices to play, and there is a theme of sacrifice and death throughout the whole game.   To play Totemple you need a deck of at least 5 beast cards, a deck of 10 squirrel cards (for sacrifices), an official Totemple regulation Scale (1gp), Bell (1gp), Board (1gp) or Mat (2gp). Starter decks of 5 beast cards + 10 squirrel cards cost 1-2gp depending on which starter deck.   Before a battle, both players bet something of value. The winner takes all. The official mats and boards contain powerful enchantment magic within them which hold the players to their word, and enforce with magic that the deal is settled.   Players draw and play their cards according to the rules which are enforced by the equipement itself via magic. Cards deal damage to other cards or direct damage, if there are no cards directly in front of the cards doing damage. Each point of direct damage adds one golden tooth token to the scale on the side the damage was dealt on. If the scale tips in one direction by 5 tokens, the player on that side loses. One can deal overkill damage past tipping the scale by 5 in one direction. The golden tooth tokens from the overkill are then awarded to the winner.   Golden Tooth Tokens (teeth) won via overkill can be exchanged for Pelt Packs. Rabbit Pelt Pack: 5 teeth. Wolf Pelt Pack: 9 teeth. Golden Pelt Pack: 20 teeth. The Pelt Packs can be bought in Totemple stores, along with all equipment and starter decks. The Pelt Pack can be openned to find beast cards. Rabbit Pelt Packs contain basic cards, while Wolf Pelt Packs contain more valuable cards. Golden Pelt Packs can contain special rare cards. These are very exclusive and powerful.   Many other mechanics and rituals have been officially released to upgrade one's deck, including sigil stitching shrines, totems, and items which can be used any time in battle.   Totemple usually only accepts regualtion official equipment and cards. This includes the golden teeth on the scales and bone tokens which manifest magically when direct damage is done or a beast dies in the game. However, the official scales have been discovered to accept real teeth which have been pulled out of players' mouths during the game. The real human teeth are then turned to gold when put on the scale. When questioned about this, Totemple Co. reassured that this will be fixed. No such intention has been shown, which gives the company a controversial public opinion.         DECK MODIFIER:   The deck modifier can be changed in the following ways:   CARD PACKS: Beast card from Rabbit Pelt Pack (5 teeth): for each Pelt Pack openned, make a DC 19 luck check, if successful, the deck modifier goes up by one.   Beast card from Wolf Pelt Pack (9 teeth): for each Pelt Pack openned, make a DC 15 luck check, if successful, the deck modifier goes up by one.   Rare card from Golden Pelt Pack (20 teeth): for each Pelt Pack openned, make a DC 10 luck check, if successful, the deck modifier goes up by one.   TOTEMS: Buying a Totem increases you Deck Modifier. Common Totem (50g): +1, Uncommon Totem (100g): +2, Rare Totem (300g): +3   Other opportunities to increase deck modifier can be provided my DM (e.g. sigil stitching, card combining, appeasing the bone lord, etc.) These all might have various luck check DCs.
IN GAME:   A bet is placed by both players. This pot will be won by the winner.   Both players roll 1d4 and add their Intelligence modifier + their deck modifier. This is the amount of damage they do.   The difference between the damages is added to the scale on the side which had more damage dealt to it.   If the difference on the scale reaches 5 on one side, that side wins. Overkill damage is awarded to the winner in gold tooth tokens.   Additionally, one can pull a tooth out to add one to the scale. One can also carve out an eye to put on the scale to count as 3 teeth, or chop a finger off for 2. If done so, your character takes one point of damage.   The winner gets to take the pot, and any gold teeth from overkill.
