Pack Hierarchy

A pack is a group of creatures who live together in an area of land without major conflict. There are fourteen packs in Sonaria.   There are ten ranks in a pack.

Alpha

Alphas are the leaders of the pack. They are responsible for making sure all members of the pack are safe and have plenty of food and water. Alphas are also responsible for protecting the pack and making important decisions, such as deciding where the pack should move each season. They are the highest-ranked in a pack.

Beta

Betas share much of the same responsibilities as Alphas. If the Alpha of a pack is ever unable to carry out their responsibilities or is occupied, the matter defers to the Beta. The Beta advises the Alpha when needed, and if the Alpha of a pack dies, the Beta becomes the new Alpha.

Advisor

Advisors are the informants of a pack. They advise the Alpha and Beta when needed. They are often elderly, and are typically given the rank so they may communicate their knowledge to the Alpha before they pass away.

Guard

Guards are responsible for defending the pack. They are the ones who fight off any threats to their pack. In times of war, guards become the soldiers of a pack.

Battle Scout

Battle Scouts are responsible for scouting out the pack’s land and attacking any intruders who refuse to leave. They act as normal scouts when needed. In times of war (often with other packs), they scout out the battlefield.

Scout

Scouts are responsible for surveying the pack’s lands and making sure there are no intruders. Scouts are also responsible for gathering info to plot a route for a migrating pack. Pack Alphas often have Scouts fly reconnoissance missions.

Healer

Healers are responsible for keeping the pack healthy and nursing injured pack-members back to health.

Forager

Foragers are responsible for finding food for the pack.

Nester

Nesters are responsible for adding to the pack’s ranks by laying eggs. They are sometimes called “Nidi”, from the Latin-presumed nidiscus (nestling).

Babysitter

Babysitters are responsible for watching over the juveniles in a pack. They are the lowest-ranked in a pack.
