Lintar
a traditional musical instrument of the Midngiht Elves, lintar are small drums made of carved stone and stretched hide. they produce an odd, hollow sound that many say is an acquired taste. skilled lintar players can use the lintar's two heads to create rapid patterns that imitate the falling of rain, the pounding of feet, or even the feel of sunshine. The lintar is one of the three traditional instruments of the midnight elves, the others being the eight-holed flute and the nine-string fiddle.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The lintar is a small, dual-headed drum, meant to be worn around the neck and played on both heads. short sticks or bare hands are used to beat complex patterns on both heads, with some skilled players using multiple sticks. the skin of the drum is usually stretched hide, typically goat or cow, though more expensive lintar are famous for using Lynx hide. the body of the drum is usually carved rock, though some makers have experimented with using bone or wood to make lintar, with mixed results.
Significance
The lintar is said to have been played by several members of the rebellion against Lolth, including Erandul Moonsworn himself. In the rebellion, lintar were used to send complex messages vast distances, the construction of the instrument allowing clear tones through miles of tunnels.
Rarity
common in the Midnight Kingdom, lintar are a rare instrument in all other places.

Lintar range from 30cm long to 50cm long, and are around 15 cm in radius at the head.
