Essence Crystals are micro gemstones that are made out of pure Essence. They are created by Alim; one half of the sentience of Dyvynyty to serve as an elaboration on a set of powers within a Gnosis, and allow for individuals to ascend into particular thrones of interest, or at least put themselves in the pool of people interested for such a thing to be picked by those Essence Pools in due time.
The law of density applies in full force here, with Essence Crystals being more and more potently powerful the
smaller the crystal is.
When a essence crystal is locked into a Gnosis, one can not change the crystal within, unless one was to lose and then regain their Gnosis entirely. However the crystal can always be compacted with other essence crystals to be smaller and smaller if one finds multiple essence crystals.
Essence Crystals larger than 8.1 mm are unable to be used for a Gnosis what so ever, nor can they be even added to the mass of a essence crystal. However, they can be crushed within ones palm to create a spell effect which is immune to counterspell, and bleeds through usual psionic defenses and magic immunities.
