Patriarchs are solitary by instinct, and are by far the most populated, serving at 95% of the population of Cosmos Dragons. Cold in disposition, and are most commonly monogamous solitary creatures, not often traveling with multiple mates, nor their young past a certain age. They do not often choose willingly to interact socially with other beings—even other dragons whom are not their chosen travel companion—preferring to delight in the ultimate freedom and solitude provided by the depths of the Cosmos.
In addition, A Patriarch can only ever bear, or conceive/receive one clutch of eggs. The toll it leaves on the Patriarch's body is one most severe, which renders them completely infertile in the aftermath. It seems to be a biological switch that has been specifically designed to prevent overpoulation within Cosmos space, put in place by the Maker of Dragons.
Selene, and Apolloyon both are Patriarchs.
