Thoetis Planetary Document

Thoetis is said to be a land of seafaring adventure, islands, giant monsters, and a strange history that is locked deep under the sea. The truth of Thoetis is a mystery even to the new age of divines.
Thoetis is a large planet, with no main continental bodies upon it. Instead it is covered in a series of peaks that make up islands, alongside several elevated floating islands scattered about it over the water. If the water of the oceans were drained on Thoetis to an average planetary size, it is hypothized that there would be 12 continental bodies. Deep sea survellience drones show precious little in terms of understanding how this planet came to be. There is very clearly a high amount of Hydro essence present on the planet, and the main races have to do with Aigo descent, specifically of the Bestia descent, that have adapted out to their own individual niches. However, nothing explains how the planet came to be flooded, and the Aigo lacking in any of their classic technology.   It is theorized that the sentients that populate this planet are the victims of a great flood that came at the hands of Spirits of the Ocean. Though there is no exact proof for this, there is a complex mythology of the planet that claims that several grand sea gods warred over the planet, and then later, vanished.   When the truebloods had recovered the planet there were several pockets of abberancy that were hibernating under the surface that were cleared and extracted, so it is assumed that the ruling gods had been eliminated and the planet was left to die, unmanned after a great death. As of the modern day, Thoetis is now home to a thriving culture of pirate like nations and guilds that make up the planet.   However what sets this planet apart from others is the unique and enigmatic fruits that cover its surface, nicknamed 'Devil Fruits' by the inhabitants. Devil fruits are mystical and mysterious fruits found throughout the world that, when consumed, provide the eater a special ability, depending on the type and variation of the fruit itself. Superficially, they resemble common household fruits at a glance, but a closer look will be able to tell them apart by the strange colorization and eldritch patterns that dot the outer layers of the fruit. The taste is also reportedly abhorrent and offputting, however rarely enough to prevent anyone from actually consuming the devil fruit. The rarity of devil fruits mean few people outside of the Grand Line have ever seen one, or a devil fruit user at all. Most commoners in the four seas consider these fruits to be mere myth and legend, however as one travels along the Grand Line these powers become all the more apparent and common. Many of the strongest pirates and marine officers have consumed a devil fruit. Three distinct types of devil fruits exist, ranked most common to rarest: Paramecia, Zoan and Logia.   Devil fruits are truly one of a kind, as no single fruit exists in two different instances at any time. However, mystical in nature, once a devil fruit user dies for any reason, the devil fruit they had consumed will soon grow on a fruit tree close to where the previous consumer had died. However, the exact location is always random, meaning that a devil fruit can remain hidden away for decades, possibly even centuries, with noone aware of its existence. The only known documentation of devil fruits is the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, and its contents are incomplete as only a few listed fruits are given illustrations.   The only true way of learning what powers a specific devil fruit holds is to consume it. A single bite of the fruit is enough to gain its powers, the remainder of the fruit becoming just a normal, if unappetizing, fruit afterwards. Once consumed, the new devil fruit user innately learns the name of the fruit, and the basic properties of the power they have gained.   While the powers granted by a devil fruit cannot be understated, the price to pay for such a boon is a steep one indeed. Said to have been spawned by the devil of the seas, whoever eats a devil fruit forever loses their ability to swim. In a world consisting mostly of expansive seas and oceans, this is a dangerous gambit to risk for the sake of power. Even so, the lure of the devil fruits remain extremely strong with all who desire power or freedom, so much that the rarest and most powerful devil fruits can sell for as much as 5,000,000,000 GP, more than ten times as much as a galleon warship.   It is said that the sea itself hates devil fruit users, which is why all of them without fault lose the ability to swim. More than that, they become entirely incapacitated when submerged in water, meaning a single unfortunate drop could spell the definite end of a devil fruit user, no matter how powerful. Even a casual dip in running water saps the strength of a devil fruit user, leaving them weak and lethargic. Special types of minerals, known as sea-prism stone or simply seastone, also generate a similar "energy" to the ocean. Much like running water, contact with these stones sap the strength from devil fruit users and prevent them from using their powers. The mining and distribution of sea-prism stone is a tightly guarded secret by the worlds various governments.
Average Human
This subspecies of human is called 'Clann Humans', they tend to range in size very similar to your standard human, from 5'1 to 6'5, but some are known to grow larger than average to up to 7'5. They tend to be louder than other subspecies of humanoids, and have nerves of steel that seem to some others, to be near suicidal levels of bravery.
The Merrins
The Merrins or 'Merfolk' as the slang on the planet, have these individuals living in coastal shallows. Often called 'Sweet Sirens' or 'Guppy Girls', the Merrins all have a tendency to look feminine regardless of gender, and often romances between sailors and Merrins do crop up if only because of the Merrins willingness to follow ships with good enough incentive, whether it be mercenaries to help defend, or simply wishing for adventure of their own. Ships on Thoetis for that reason tend to have a hollow underneath section in the water that can house Merrin crewmates.
The Kharr
The Kharr are massive individuals, with bulky pronounced muscles and short felid like faces, possessing a pair of horns, two sets of ears, and a thick aquatic looking tail. Curiously samples from individuals of this species note them as being purely aigo still in ancestry, leading the Rebis to believe that the Kharr are the result of a godly being tampering with a race, whether blessing them or cursing them is unclear. The Kharr have short tempers, and tend to solve their problems with their fists. Their culture is the ones who develop and mine for gunpowder inside of the massive mountain the main racial culture lives within.
The Triton
The Triton are the hybrid species between Humans and Merfolk, possessing no lower half of a fish, but a long tail and the ability to breathe underwater, the Triton are the rulers of the Grand Line, the edge of the explored and established world as it would be, whom often oversee many guild operations. The rag tag culture that has developed of the Triton of the children stuck between two worlds has the desire for adventure drive their pseudo-culture forward for an exploration of endless horizons.
Devil Fruit
Devil Fruit give an individual strange powers, and measurement of those powers seem to be giving them the possession of a Spark, and a grab bag of randomized powers. This was a percaution likely put in place of the last gods who lived here so that there would always be legendary individuals growing upon the planet. Because of the cultural significance of these fruit, the Rebis has opted to not remove them from the planet. Though the Rebis is unsure why the individuals who eat the fruit get cursed to be unable to swim or survive in the sea. Further research is needed.
