Personal history

Jack grew up on the outskirts of Baldur's Gate. His parents were farmers. Growing up with low income and dreams of more, Jack found himself quickly wanting to help out and improve their standard of living. His childhood and early teens were full of hard work, but Jack wasn't satisfied with just his wage working as an apprentice carpenter. So he took to the streets of Baldur's Gate. Stealing, conning, and otherwise getting as much coin as he could. He was very careful about what he stole, and from who. By the time he was 19, he and his parents saved up enough to open a restaurant in the city called "Sheppard's Delight."
Jack's criminal activity continued, until he was eventually caught and imprisoned. Jack managed to escape within a few days. Over the next two years, Jack was arrested and escaped two more times before finally leaving town until the heat calmed down. His escapes did get him a fair amount of name recognition around town. For a few years he traveled from place to place, doing odd jobs getting a feel for the the adventrer life. He travelled to Elturel, took acting lessons, and was preparing to join a troupe. He got into the habit of staying in the city during the cold months, and acting as a solo rogue adventurer, doing odd jobs and exploring. During one of his outings, he found and rescued Cardinal. Whom he's taken to as a partner in crime.
