Misty Bay

A ring of mountains with a scattered plethora of springcrystals throughout, the settlement is on and above the lake that fills the basin below the mountains before the water finally trickles out into the sky. Founded long ago when the third daughter of an Empress of the Cypress Grove left Hinokishima, Misty Bay, or Aiho in its native Ijano language, once shared much with its sister land. As the centuries passed and as the mountain monks gained more power, Aiho closed its port to all, calling to their aid a sovereign dragon to defend their borders. Now, they are a mysterious place that none enter. All tales of the town come from those who leave the community to see the outside world, never to return to their home. Stories of splendid towers and palaces peeking out of the mist entice some to try to enter the freehold, but none have been successful in getting past the dragon to see the bay beyond.
