Session 07: Discoveries, Death & Dates

General Summary

• Players wake up in Sandstorm's Refuge, barkeep tells them that Captain Ironshield of the Helm's Guard wanted to talk to them about a job.
• A messenger pigeon delivers a note from Dr. Dannell, informing the party that she has made it to Covington, and will head to Glennhaven and then Miran. If she does not report that she is at those places, then she is probably in trouble.
• At the Helm's Guard branch they meet Captain Ironshield and Bork, a half-orc ranger
• The party signs contracts to work with the Helm's Guard and are tasked with three quests
• 1. Visit Selena Silvermoon at the Sandswept Library to investigate some stolen books
• 2. Find out more about the underground fight club
• 3. Find evidence that Alda Arkin is working with the Obsidian Order at her home. 
• The party first goes to the Sandswept Library and meets the beautiful, drow Selena Silvermoon
• Selena Silvermoon discusses the recent break in and offers a list of items that were taken, a few notable tomes being: Rituals and Culture of the Ancient Lierans, The Occult of Ancient Liera, Unsung Heros and Villians of the Desert's Past, A Scientific Analysis of "The Tale of the Lieran Beast", Plus a handful of scrolls in an Ancient Lieran language that was in the process of being deciphered. Most of the tomes involve the ancient history of Liera 
• The party discovers telltale signs of thieves tools on the door locks and a window that was used to enter the library after hours.
• They find a few pieces of a thieves tool set, which is made entirely of obsidian. 
• Next the party goes to Alda Arkin's home.
• They enter through the back door which is not locked.
• Cerric uses charcoal to write a threatening warning on the wall, Mhump breaks a window at Cerric's request.
• Zazall and Lilian venture upstairs and find Alda's dead body in the bedroom. Lilian notifies Bork of the dead body via message.
• Two sandguard members are drawn by the noise of the broken window
• Cerric and Mhump go upstairs as well, Cerric throws dust of disappearing on the four of them to turn them invisible. They investigate and find the office and bedroom have been thoroughly cleaned out. 
• Bork and Drast talk with the guards, who begin looking around. Bork and Drast run upstairs, encouraging their friends to flee out the window while they summon a cat familiar and begin lighting fires.
• The fires provide a distraction while the party jumps out the back window, Drast and Bork and the two guards go out the front. The guards call for more guards and question Drast and Bork.
• Eventually, the Sandguard reinforcements arrive and question Drast and Bork, taking their names down and putting out the fires. 
• Drast and Bork go bar hopping.
• Zazall, Lilian, Cerric and Mhump go to the Dune's End and start investigating for the underground fight club.
• Drast and Bork arrive at the Dune's End. They bribe the barkeep with 5 gp and he informs them the following.
• The underground fight club happens on the nights of the full moon and new moon, a doorway at the end of the alley next to the tavern is the entrance, which is only accessible during the full and new moon. There is strong booze, good gambling. 
• The party heads back to the Sandstorm's Refuge and enjoys their usual meals and mead with the belly dancers.
• Selena Silvermoon brings Cerric three books on Elistree and they have a nice little informal date, and she invites him to dinner 
• Zazall flirts with his favorite belly dancing gnome 
• Lilian flirts with a different belly dancer each night and she is a favorite among the staff
• Mhump has a good time
• Bork and Drast are still drunk off their asses
