Session 16: Locating the Pillars of Solstice and The Rogerson Dig
General Summary
- Players continue traveling in the Xeden Desert
- Run into a chasm 200 feet long, 50 feet at it's widest and it tapers to the ends
- Could not locate the bottom of the chasm, nor hear a ball bearing hit the bottom
- A carrier pigeon gives Mumph a note from Dr. Dannell that she is doing well in Miran, the staff treats her well, and that they are working on destroying the eldritch egg
- Lilian writes back "thanks for update, RIP Clarence, new members Bork and Drast, snooping still snooping, Alda Arkin's dead, congrats on the new job and cool place lets meet up soon"
- Continue to travel
- Arrive at the Pillars of the Solstice and meet Elara Emberfell, a human archeologist from Varkenbluff University with a feverish passion for the pillars and has devoted her life to them
- Drast tries to use blood on the pillars but Elara snatches it away from him, and accidentally drops the vile of dragons blood as Drast draws a dagger on her, Mumph and Lilian step in to break the tension
- The party looks around and has an enjoyable evening with Elara as she shows them the stars in an old telescope
- Zazall breaks off a chunk of a pillar and keeps it
- In the morning they depart, after Elara faints from seeing Zazalls chunk of the pillar
- The party travels quickly through the day and approaches the Rogerson Dig in the evening
- The Rogerson dig is setup like a crater, with an entrance to a cave in the bottom section
- Cerrick and Zazall sneak up from the side/back and see 9 figures, two who seem to be in charge- one tiefling and one half-orc, named Kaldor
- The two figures talk about how the party should have been here by now
- The tiefling sends up an owl to look around, Zazall and Cerrick hide very well
- The tielfing gives the all clear and goes inside to retire for the evening, bringing in 5 of the figures
- Kaldor, the half-orc, and three individuals remain outside guarding
- Zazall and Cerrick return to camp and let the party know, they plan to launch an attack that night
