Anchor Root (Ank-or R(oo)t)
Anchor Root is an ant gnoll, a 3 foot tall humanoid who resembles an aarwolf more than a deadly creature. She hails from a small clan located to the south-west from Magaambya. While she's to shy to tell why she's here, it is known that some of Anchor's intense shyness comes from the pressure her family has put on her. But even without that added pressure, Anchor would have issues with anxiety and panic. The slighest flaw in her work or actions, whether real or perceived, can leave her a devastated wreck for days.
Anchor Root takes her bone collection and religious ceremony training very seriously, even though she doesn't always seem up to the task. She is always on the lookout for the bones of worthy creatures, be they gnolls or not, that can be symbolically adopted to serve as spiritual mentors and protectors often doing so with her friend Noxolo. The gnoll also has a hobby of anonymously recording music played around the city and then working with Esi and student from other dorms to play the music back on campus for others to hear.
Anchor is known for having her chicken familiar tied to a stick in her room to keep it free of unwanted bugs, even through she has a some contained in a container on her desk that she got from Teacher Ulawu. If she isn't around Nantambu recording music or spending time with Noxolo, she can be found in the kitchen stress baking with Tzeniwe.
When she made her first mask, during her Masking Ceremony, she had attempted to make it in the shape of rabbit, but when finished it took the form of a panther, to the surprise of both Teacher Koride and herself. She wears the mask on her hip, hoping one day to be strong enough to wear it correctly.
When her Masking Ceremony ended with an insect ambush on the hall, she moved to the recovery area to help with healing of those injured.
