Soul of Fire

"The year is 2014 CE, it is the modern-day but things are not like you currently know. We go back in time to July 28th, 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. This was going to be the start of World War 1 and it kind of was. July 29th, the same year, a rift tore open most of Berlin was instantly destroyed. This same destruction carried over to the other countries sounding the area. Germany was all but crippled in a single day and the rest of the world powers were dumbfounded. They sent in their highly experimental aircraft to figure out what has happened to this major power, only to have their entire fleet destroyed. On the radio, these broadcasting stations had stories coming in all of the places with all sorts of impossible events. Wyrms had destroyed the entire earth's air division. What made it even crazier were that some wyrms had riders. Spewing from Germany were also little green men and large fuzzy beasts with insanely long arms.   That is taught in classrooms to children of different races and homes across the world. Some look human but with pointed ears, some with horns and a tail with red or blue skin while others have feathers or even scales. It is modern-day earth and the fantasy world has broken through into our realm, bringing their magical items and secrets. Here comes the problem, why are these, what we once thought, fantasy creatures, doing here on earth!? Come to find out they did not come here to conquer us. No, they came here for a much more horrific reason than that. They came to our world in a last-ditch effort to survive. They came to us as refugees. These refugees come at the cost of 60 very powerful casters. Apparently on the other side they were able to use magic and of this magic is a spell called wish. Wish is a powerful enough spell that it could change reality if the caster was powerful and lucky enough when they attempted the spell. Made even more amazing was that there were 60 powerful casters that spun the wish spell all at the same time with the same thought, "give hope and a new home to those who could be saved." This is how the first rift appeared and these beings made it to this world.   As these refugees broke into the strictly human world, more rifts appeared. Some continents have multiple rifts, while others have one. One thing that is known, the entire continent of Africa is shrouded in mystery. Not a single person that has gone in has come back out. Very rarely are there any creatures that come out of the fog. With its high cliffs and difficult access, most foreign powers have given up on Africa. Made even stranger is the island of Madagascar and smaller islands surrounding are missing. Weather patterns shited a little and the land quaked. The earth was not meant to take this kind of strain and in turn, reacted to the gravity of the situation. Some nations banded together, others broke apart. Some were completely wiped away and replaced with these new people. Even the land its self has become broken and shattered from what it once was.   With all of these strange creatures walking about and these mythical beasts are roaming, came an even greater fear. When that first rift shattered what we knew a century ago, we learned one more thing. When wish was used and the casters gave up their lives to create these rifts, it woke up the gods and goddesses of this world. It seems that the deities of this realm were only intending to set things in motion and see how their creations and ideas would turn out. The mythos of Norse, Egyptian, Babaloynian were ever-present and watching. Now angered with the breaking a hole into this world, allowing the ability to use magic to come through as well. This was their one true ban for their creations as they feared something so powerful would cause them never-ending war and suffering. Wish was so powerful it undid what the gods and goddesses did, create a barrier to protect this world from everything else that might be out there and remove the inability to use magic." ~Is this my world now? Unkown Author   What advances have been made, what have we lost in the process of not having these major wars and events!? The world has been set, the pieces cast and it is your turn to survive. Players, what would you like to do?   With the shattering into the Earthen realm, more than just the fantasy came over. Sinister forces started to creep into the Earthen side. There is the portal into our realm that is still open in Germany and it appears that people and animals randomly combust into fire elementals, or infernal. The Shattering took place a hundred years ago but people and animals didn't start to combust until ~80 years ago. About 50 years ago those that used to combust are now turning into fire elementals and infernals.
