The Tiefling War
A war involving The Republic of Hell's Landing invasion of the Kingdom of Leon and shortly afterwards The Grand Dutchy of Aragon along with financial support from The Edren Empire and military support from many of the tribes in the Free Fjords over slavery.
The Conflict
Prelude
The Prelude to the war was mostly found in a society where public and economic pressure from Hell's Landing was largely ignored even as its strength grew. Meanwhile the naval and war capabilities of Leon and Aragon had languished from years of marginal use. Conflict became inevitable when a trade ship from Hell's Landing was confiscated and the crew enslaved under the assertion they were runaway. This along with the rise of the Liberation Party in Hells Landing lead to an invasion within the year.
Battlefield
Most fighting was at Sea and coastal towns. Early in the war Hell's Landing was wildly successful, famously capturing many of the small islands off the coast of both their enemies and burning down much of Lyse the capitol of Aragon. Ultimately this devastated almost all of the professional naval capacity of both Leon and Aragon, whom turned to foreign privateers for any naval success. However the later half of the war saw more problems for Hell's Landing, land battles and holding land proved difficult for the lesser man power of the city state and more privateers attacking Tiefling coastal regions made the war ever less popular at home.
Outcome
Slavery was limited by both nations. Becoming banned for all but mining and domestic work in Leon, and banned for all applications beside agriculture and domestic work in Aragon. Greater rights were in-placed. Slaves had a write to trial for crimes and the right to buy themselves out of slavery. However these liberties are questionably enforced. some small islands switched hands and war reparations were paid to Aragon and Leon for destruction of cities and plantations. .
Aftermath
The Liberation Party in Hells Landing fell out of favor for a while and eventually returning they now rule in concert with the new Restoration Party and the Republican party. Aragon's military focus has shifted from land armies and knights to ships and naval development. Jump starts in industrialization.
Historical Significance
Legacy
This war shook the view of Hell's landing to a tiny nothing mine to have wealth extracted to one of if not the most powerful maritime nation. Relationships with Hells Landing grew stronger in Anti-slave nations like the Sea kingdoms and Edren especially, but grew more soured with their maritime rival Republic of Dobruja.
Technological Advancement
This war brought fire arms into the front of all sides and saw the first modern use of the Steam ship. Allowing Hell's Landing's navy to be able to move quickly regardless of winds.
