Gally Coralmar

Captain of "The Last Order", Hero of Coralmar

Born on a ship traveling off the coast of Manacle Bay, Gally has lived her entire life at sea. Coming from humble beginnings, Gally experienced the good and the bad of life at sea, gaining experience and knowledge, which she kept throughout her entire life. As an adult she formed a group that fought for her ideals, contrary to the city's ruler, and after a revolution, she became the best-regarded leader of Coralmar, and thus remained in history as one of the Heroes of Southset.

Born on a Ship

Humble Beginnings

Gally's parents, Rosa and Salazar Coralmar were experienced sailors who traveled the seas of Southset in search of treasure. Rosa came from a fishing family and Salazar did not know his parents and always worked as first mate on large ships. With the little money they earned, after saving for a few years, they managed to afford their own ship, naming it Our Wish. From there on, the two sailed the coast of Manacle Bay looking for treasures that could make them rich one day. This life brought them even closer, and from that love came a gift, a daughter, Gally.

Life at Sea

As a child, Gally Coralmar helped her parents with the family's small ship, she did the lightest jobs, like cleaning the floor, helping her mother prepare the food of the week, she would often be responsible for making sure that the ropes, sails and pulleys were correctly secured while performing these small tasks, Gally watched her father operate the ship, sailing to every small island her mother could see on the horizon, and so she gradually learned how to be a captain.

To be a captain

Loss and Growth

This family of three sailors was very close and even though they never found the treasure that would make them rich, they managed to earn a little money by doing jobs for Manacle Bay's wealthiest organizations. And that was the life of the Coralmar family for about two decades. Over the years, Salazar gradually became ill, resulting in his death, Gally was only 15 years old. She and her mother had to stop the life of sailors because as much as Gally had learned a lot from her father, the two could not command a ship by themselves. So they chose to sell their ship and built a small tavern in the center of Manacle Bay. Gally still had the desire to sail her own ship, so one day, knowing that Desty Nova, the captain of The Last Order and leader of the Ravishment, one of the most famous pirate groups of the city, used to go to the tavern, she decided to take an action that would change the course of her life from then on.

The Last Order

Desty Nova was one of the most successful captains of Manacle Bay, along with his crewmates he found several treasures and was known to be the only one to come out alive from the battle against Obere, the Sea Monster. Desty was a very arrogant and pretentious man, but for Gally, this was not the worst that the captain could offer. Nova frequented the tavern she and her mother built, but not to enjoy the delicious food there, he would go to the tavern every night and would pay large amounts of gold to Rosa so she would spend the night with him, in need of money, Gally's mother had to accept.   Gally knew that Nova was a very greedy man, although he had made a fortune with treasures he found, he always wanted more. Wanting to give a lesson to Desty Nova and at the same time with the desire to have her own ship to sail, Gally forged a treasure map that led to Obere's Island, an island on the border of Southset. She had already heard the stories told about the island and she knew that the island was very dangerous. When delivering the map to Nova, Gally told a story about the treasure, hidden for centuries in that place, the captain, full of himself, knew that such stories were just tales to scare the weak, and decided to gather his crew on his ship and set sail to the island, in search of the treasure.

Lesson learned

Gally told her mother that she would be away for a few days to look for equipment in the area, but that she shouldn't worry as she would be coming home with a surprise. So Gally, now 25, always stealthy, as she would have learned to be during her years living with her parents on the ship, infiltrated The Last Order and traveled with Desty Nova and crew, eating leftovers for a few days and sleeping on the floor, until anchoring in the bay of Obere's Island. Once there, Gally Coralmar waited for the ship's crew to go looking for the treasure within the island, and as soon as she was alone on the ship she used her knowledge of commanding ships to take the wheel and set sail back to Manacle Bay, leaving Nova and crew there to starve and to never be found again.

From then on

A new life

Back in Manacle Bay, now in command of a large ship, Gally quickly became known as the one who managed to outwit the great captain Desty Nova, many wanted to be part of the crew of the new The Last Order, so it didn't take long for Gally to get a crew to your ship. Rosa ended up accepting her daughter's choice and even though she knew she had lied to her, she was proud of her daughter's willpower and what she had achieved, unfortunately, a few months later, Rosa ended up dying of an unknown disease. So Gally ended up focusing entirely on her new life as the captain of The Last Order, returning to her origins sailing across the coast of Manacle Bay in search of treasures, but now she had the help of a crew of at least 20 people.

The big problem

What Gally did not know was that, behind the wonders of Manacle Bay and the increase of pirate groups in the region, the greed and tyranny of the city's ruler, Andrei Rianofski, also increased more and more. Taking advantage of the large number of ships that anchored on the city's coast, and that there was no other safe passage to Southset, Andrei charged absurd amounts of money from all those who wished to enter the continent. And he would charge a very high fee from pirate groups already established in the city, stating that this money would be used to improve Manacle Bay's establishments and increase the provision of supplies to the sailors, which was definitely not happening.   Gally, now 29, was already a well-established captain in the city, but she did not accept Andrei's way of ruling the city, she would try in every way to end the absurd taxation of sailors imposed by him, but without success. After some rumors that Andrei Rianofski was using the tax money to hire courtesans from Naerdoden (the continent's capital) spread across the city, Gally became furious, and decide to take an action. Together with her ship's crewmates, who faithfully followed her, she created an organization in order to take Andrei out of power and end his tyranny once and for all, naming it Stinkpot. For months she and her shipmates would spread their words of revolution throughout Manacle Bay's land, a few months later, Stinkpot was already a large group, of at least 100 people who wanted to dethrone Andrei, knowing that their hard-earned gold was being misappropriated and directed towards Rianofski's own pleasures.

Make it right

On the rainy night of 7th of Nola, Stinkpot acted, everyone marched towards the city ruler's headquarters and broke into the head office, shouting words of disgust and contempt, some of Rianofski's advisers who tried to escape without being noticed were chased and had their feet and hands tied, so that they could not run from their responsibilities towards the city residents. Andrei was caught red-handed in his quarters, accompanied by another maiden from Naerdoden in his bed. Gally pressured him for immediate changes, but Andrei did not admit his mistakes and frauds and tried to flee the place, but the captain, with the help of some crew members, grabbed him and arrested him, along with his advisers, on The Lost Eel, the prison hulk that was anchored in the city bay. Due to the success of group and the adoration of most of the city's inhabitants, Gally had been elected by the people as the ruler of the city, who would now bear the name Coralmar, as her legacy.

Legacy

To this day Gally Coralmar is remembered by everyone who traverses Southset's sea, her story is told from generation to generation, serving as inspiration for all young sailors in the city of Coralmar. Nowadays, with Stinkpot and Gally's granddaughter, Yoko Coralmar, ruling Coralmar, the price to enter the city is much more cheap, and all pirate groups are documented by Yoko. Now Coralmar is established as a sanctuary for pirates and sailors, a land of tresures and adventures at the sea. After Gally's death, a statue was erected in her honor, it is located in the center of the city, so that everyone who arrives can see the Hero of Coralmar in all her glory.
