The Empire lashes out in response to their ever-shrinking influence in the Mid and Outer Rims. This was a direct response to the growing socialist movements that were growing in influence. However this would backfire, especially as the Empire began to exert their influence towards Beacon.
The Second Crusades would culminate in the Empire's eventual withdrawal from the Mid Rim directly. The Union of Socialist systems was able to push an over exerted empire all the way into Pacifica.
