LR-49 Laser Rifle

History

ArmaCarta LR-49 Laser Weapon System, or LR-49 laser rifle has begun development in the year 2543 after ArmaCarta won the contest for a new type of small arms for the Spaceborne Marines of the Imperial Marines. The development was bumpy and not without controversy, but after six years in development, almost at the deadline specified in the contract, ArmaCarta presented the LR-49 to the world, after first showing it to the army officials. The project checked all of the boxes specified by the Imperial Marine Corps and was accepted into service in 2550. By 2553 it replaced all previous rifles used by the Spaceborne Marines.

LR-49 rifles are used exclusively by the Naval Corps of the Imperial Marines and are a standard issue armament of Spaceborne Marines. They are available for purchase on the civilian market as well, though only in semi-automatic versions.

Raw materials & Components

LR-49 is made out of various polymers to reduce its weight with the framework being made out of titanium alloys to improve endurance. Internal mechanisms are made out of gold-graphene combos to increase power efficiency while reducing produced heat to a minimum. The focusing lens of the laser are made out of classified materials similar to glass, but much stronger as the rifle needs to be able to endure high amounts of physical stress.
