The Seven
An introduction to the Seven
Poorly thought of, hated, feared, the Seven have through history been known as arrogant destroyers who value nothing more then power. In truth, the Seven are shy, reclusive scholars living in a world where magic is devil-worship. They live in reclusion in the Seventh Tower away from the troubles of nations. Through history the Seven have caused trouble, and little else. Nearly every child born in the Pack of Wolves with magical gifts seeks out the Seven for training. They take in forty nine apprentices at any given time, and separate their training among their seven arch mages.
The seven arch mages of the Seven
There are seven schools of magic that the Seven are dedicated to: meteormancy, the magic of the sky; hydromancy, the magic of water, ice, and steam; pyromancy, the magic of fire and explosives; geomancy, the magic of the earth and of force and sonic magic; necromancy, the study of the dead and the magics that animate them; photomancy, the study of light magic; and hypnomancy, the magic of illusions and hypnotics.
Halcyon, arch mage of necromancy
Tall, gaunt, and dark haired, Halcyon had always had a pretension as to being the most powerful of the Seven. He was able to control close to forty undead at any given time, usually powerful necromancers could not even control thirty. Halcyon was a lich who was easily three hundred years old. Usually the Seven would be opposed to such demonic magics as lichcraft, but Halcyon had impressed them into allowing his acceptance. Two hundred years later he was declared head of the Seven. Through his life he had striven to prove that a lich could be trusted, but when in 106 P16 he aided the Demon King in his return, all of the trust he had built up was lost, and one of his apprentices, Iris, took his position.
Kalani, arch mage of photomancy
Blond haired and blue eyed Kalani was the Seven's least respected arch mage. His young age over shadowed his wunderkind magical skill. Kalani could use light to blind, burn, irradiate, or heal depending on what he wanted it to do. He was the youngest and most attractive of the Seven, and many of the apprentices had affairs with him. All and all, Kalani was disrespected by nearly all of the other arch mages except Halcyon, who saw great promise in him.
Selene, arch mage of hypnomancy
Silver haired Selene was the most manipulative of the Seven. She would use illusion tricks on a whim. Only teaching female apprentices, Selene was a staunch feminist who always glorified the matriarchy of the Drow society. If the other nations of the Pack of Wolves knew that Selene was promoted to master wizard after Halcyon was ostracised, then they would truly believe the Seven to be fully insane. After all, the Pack was infamous for being outdated in thinking, particularly when it came to freedoms and equalities.
Pandora, arch mage of meteormancy
Olive skinned and dark eyed Pandora was as fickle as the weather. She could switch personalities part way through a conversation and go from an outgoing and bubbly personality to a cold shy recluse. Pandora also had a tendency to start fires in the Seventh Tower. Pandora was put on the highest floor in the hope that if the tower were to even catch fire, that only her notes and her work would be ruined.
Atlas Smith, arch mage of geomancy
Short, and stoat Atlas was the kindest and most down to earth of the Seven. He was born in the Nether Lands, but traveled south to the Seven, not out of necessity like the other of the Seven's members (the Nether Lands were one of two nations in the Pack of Wolves that would not try to kill mages on sight) but for an education. He is the only member of the Seven to carry a surname, because none of the Seven wanted their families to be targeted by anti-magic activists, and because quite frankly Smith is such a universal name that no anti-mage could really find his parents through it.
Desdemona, arch mage of Pyromancy
Desdemona, with her red hair, while skin, and fiery temper was an obvious choice for arch mage of fire magic. Desdemona, unlike Pandora, had great control over her magic, and had only set the tower on fire three times, a record low. She had a predilection for arguing, and often did so with Selene and Halcyon. That said, Halcyon viewed her as his chosen replacement, often calling her the next master wizard. Unfortunately for Desdemona, this endorsement caused her to lose a great deal of credibility when Halcyon went rouge resulting in Selene's selection as master.
Hyperion, arch mage of Hydromancy
Greying Hyperion was the opposite of what his name might suggest. Hyper and Hyperion were antonymes. Hyperion was studious and reserved and was often asked to teach the new apprentices beginner magic. Unlike the other mages who had short tempers, Hyperion never seemed to get frustrated with the new recruits. He did get annoyed with Kalani often, and would occasionally narrow his eyes at Pandora when she set fires to the tower more then three times a day; fires that Hyperion and his hydromancy had to put out. Secretly, Hyperion was in love with Selene, but he never thought that she would ever be able to like an awkward, clumsy, absentminded professor like himself.Structure
The organization of the seven is done in sevens. Seven arch-mages, each with seven apprentices, each with seven familiars, each with seven parasites, each with seven parasites of their own, each with seven hairs, each with seven molecules of dragon dust upon them.
Public Agenda
The Seven are dedicated to the revelation of the mystic Seventh Truth, an alleged prophesy made by Archan Godmage himself. The Seventh Truth would reveal the mystic creator who created the world in seven days and seven nights.
Assets
The Seven "own" one of three dragon dust mines, dragon dust being THE component of all powerful arcane spells and the preferred food of dragons, hence the name. They also command the largest faction of mages in the Pack of Wolves, making them a considerable threat to all of their foes. They do not own much in the way of property, as piles of gold would make their tower sink into the cursed lake.
History
The Seven have a knack for annoying people. They engaged in three notable historic events.
One hundred and six years after the sixteenth Godwar was heralded by the death of the last of the male blood line of the All-Empire. In order to reinstate a emperor, and ensure rival nations did not attack the All-Empire in its weakened state, the Almperial council contacted its eight greatest rivals and called them together for a challenge. Each rival was to send one of its male champions who must be of good breeding. The Axefall government sent Harrage Axefall of highjarl Charrage's bloodline to claim the throne. Other nations involved were the Freedom Fighters, the City of Daggers (part of the Underdark), the trade city Vienbien, the kingdom of Centerlot, the Nether Realm, and others less notable. The Seven were the seventh nation invited to the challenge on the premise that they would not use magic to cheat. The Seven ended up losing, but entering the challenge improved their relationship with the All-Empire.
When in 106 p16, the Seven's necromancer Halcyon released the Demon King upon the world it was expected that the Seven would clean up. Instead, for seven days, as the Seven remained at their tower doing gods know what, the Demon King enslaves a third of the Pack. The All-Empire was facing off with the Demon King, when the Seven popped out of a puff of smoke. They they turned to the Demon King and chanted the following:
"Seven and seven is seventy seven, and seven sevenths makes one whole, and several seeds of several fruits grow seven different plants, and seven lives did live the cat, and seven times did it bat, and seven fleas on seven cats is seven hours of scratching, now seven lines shall we repeat and send your soul to heaven. Seven and seven is seventy seven, and seven sevenths makes one whole, and several seeds of several fruits grow seven different plants, and seven lives did live the cat, and seven times did it bat, and seven fleas on seven cats is seven hours of scratching, now seven lines shall we repeat and send your soul to heaven. " With that seven tendrils burst from the earth and dragged the Demon King back into the depths. All of the nations that had been effected were furious that the Seven would have waited until the world was a flame, only to casually cast the Demon King into the earth. According to the Seven: "We spent seven days and seven nights, spilled seven pints of our blood, pulled seven hundred and seventy seven of our hairs before we had yet begun. Slew seven lambs and seven shrews, and seven dirty dogs. And when we were all good and spent, we slew seven boars. For seven days and seven nights we tried to right our wrong, now for seven years and seven days all the world shall morn." And they were quite accurate, for seven years needed to pass before fear of the Demon King's return left the lips of the simple peasant folks.
The wakening of the Demon Dragon in 100 P16 brought about the awakening of the grey dragons that used to be prevalent all over the Pack before their subsequent destruction at the hands of the numerous anti-Drorkundriic nations. The return of the dragons rekindled the embers of the dragon wars of old. The Seven attempted to align themselves with the dragons, which worked at first, but eventually they ended up being caught up in the new dragon war, and were nearly destroyed in the process.

The return of the Dragon Wars
