Ettin Giant

Ettin giants stand out among their kindred due to a most peculiar feature, the fact that they have two independent heads. Observant, quick-witted and adaptive, ettin giants have found success living among the smaller races, for the most part giving up their once nomadic lifestyle for a more urban one. Their great strength serves the well in a variety of jobs and rarely do they lack for work, as both the city and private contractors flock to add the giant's massive strength to their group. Many a town rests easy knowing the watchful eyes of an ettin giants guards their walls.   In battle, ettin giants prove equally adapatble. their two heads constantly communicate with each other, meaning they are next to impossible to flank or outmaneuver. Close up, they usually wield a weapon in each hand, each head governing its swings. At a distance, they prefer hurling boulders, which they usually give a tight squeeze before throwing. This has the effect of ensuring the rock splinters on impact, showering everybody nearby is shards of stone.

Anatomy

Ettin giants are quadrupeds, with two legs and two arms. They walk on their knuckles for support. They are hairless, except for their heads and a few other places on their bodies. Their most notable feature is their two heads. Both heads has its own brain and can be considered its own person. Both heads can communicate with one another through thoughts and share control of the body, with each head having stronger control over the limbs that correspond to their won side, though each head can let the other have full control if desired. Ettins giants are by nature ambidextrous, if only because each head learns how to fully use the limbs corresponding to their side. Like most giants, they are tough and hard to injure. Unlike most giants, ettin giants are capable of absorb two things, often speculated to be a result of their dual anatomy. Etting giants can absorb mental energy and their bodies are stimulated into self-healing by concentrated high-force impact, such as from a spear. They a re skilled climbers, able to pull their massive bulk up mountainsides if needed. This is due to their incredibly dense muscle-mass, which grants them prodigious strength.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ettin giants produce through sexual intercourse between a male and female ettin giant. Once fertilized, a female giant keeps the fetus in her womb where it grow for almost two years before being born. Birth has been noted as being quite taxing on female etting giants, due their their childrens' double heads.

Growth Rate & Stages

Once born, ettin giant children are practically helpless for the first year or two, having to be cared for by their parents. Ettin giants children need a lot of food to help properly develop their twin heads. They then continue to develop physically and mentally over the next twenty or so years until fully grown.

Ettin giants used to live on the great plains, where their two heads allowed them to spot opportunities and dangers. However, ettin giants have become much more urban over time and many now live alongside smaller races, such as humans, where their great strength and awareness seems them gets jobs in various positions, such as watchmen or construction crew.

In ettin communities, it is therefore not unusual for there to be long chains of one head being in a relationship with another head, whose twin head in relationship with another and so on. During more intimate moments, it is usually considered polite for the uninvolved head to give up full control of most of the body while they occupy themselves with a book
