Jackal
Jackals are canine creatures native to the Sphere of Sabiralsahra. They are oppertunistic and clever creatures who manage to endure despite the sparse ressources of their homes.
Among the Human inhabitants, the jackals are often seen as symbols of cleverness and oppertunism. The nomadic Qawramal especially admire the animal, even if the ysometimes compete with it, and comparisons are considered mildly flattering.
Jackals prefer to go after prey without much chance to fight back, like rats, but if cornered, desperate or hunting in packs they can be dangerous. Their teeth can cause griveous wounds and if the jackals sense they have mortally wounded their prey, they will back off and wait until blood loss finishes the job.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Jackals are canine quadrapeds, their body covered in short, sand-coloured fur. Their maws are full of sharp teeth that can easily inflict griveous, hard to heal wounds. They are generally well adapted to life in the desert, enduring both heat and cold alike.
Genetics and Reproduction
Jackal's reproduce through intercourse, usually in periods where there's been plenty of food. Pregnancy last about a season, at which point they give birth to usually 3-6 pups.
Growth Rate & Stages
Jackal's grow to adulthood over the course of a year, at which point they usually set out to settle nearby available territories.
Ecology and Habitats
Jackals live in the mountainous areas of Sabiralsahra, where they can dig their dens. They hunt smaller animals and scavenge for greens and fruits, but sometimes jackals from neighbouring territories will join together to take down larger prey. In these packs, they can even be a danger to explorers and adventurers.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Jackals are oppertunistic omnivores. They'll eat just about anything and a very non-picky.
Behaviour
Jackals are cautiously curious. Because food can be so difficult to find, they will range far and wide. They are ressourceful and can be quite inventive if they smell an oppertunity for food. They only engage larger prey in groups and even then quickly break off if it looks like their prey can fight back, prefering to live to fight another day.
Additional Information
