Minotaur

Powerful bovine beings, minotaurs are known for their strength, easily capable of ripping a human in half with their hands a lone. They are a proud people, great of heart and great of temper. They dwell in labyrinthine cave systems that they often carve out of the rocks themselves, designing it like a maze seemingly for sport. Nearly incapable of getting lost, they are at home in these intricate domains, which at the same time serves as its own defense against unwanted intruders, leaving them to wander it's maze like design.   Minotaurs enjoy a good challenge and enjoy celebrating overcoming said challenge with some good food, some good drinks and a hearty song to get the mood going.   If engaged in combat, minotaurs prefer to rush into melee, slamming into enemies with their horns first before laying into them with a heavy weapon. Their style can be described as simple but effective.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Minotaurs have a bipedal built, walking on the legs with cloven hoofs at the end. They have two arms and two great horns crown their head. They are covered in a short layer of fur. Their skin is incredibly resilient and is capable of absorbing a great deal of incoming force, though focusing force into a singular point, such as with a spear, seems to have the greatest odds of penetrating. Their legs and great strength lends them a great deal of stability and a minotaur that has taken a stand is unlikely be be moved. One the other hand, when they in turn are moving, they can can quickly build up enough force to crumble plate armor like a tin can.

Biological Traits

Female minotaurs have breasts. These can be hard to notice most of the time, but they swell considerably when the female becomes pregnant.

Genetics and Reproduction

Minotaurs reproduce through sexual intercourse. The female minotaur will carry the fetus in her stomach for about a year before giving birth to a minotaur calf. During the pregnancy, the female minotaurs chest will swell considerably with milk.

Growth Rate & Stages

Minotaur calves are extremely reliant on parental care for the first year or two of their lives. In this period, the mother will feed the calf her milk, which is rich in everything the young minotaur needs to grow. By their third year, they are usually fully mobile, though their body and mind keeps developing over the next thirteen to sixteen years into full adults.

Ecology and Habitats

Minotaurs dwell in labyrinthine caverns, emerging from their lightless depths to forage, hunt or wander. They thus often prefer regions with cliffs or mountains into which they can carve their domains.

Minotaurs are omnivores. They are more prone to hunting and foraging than farming.

Minotaurs are social and strongly displays traits of camaraderie, loyalty and support. Nothing sets off a minotaur's temper quite like seeing those they care for in danger.

Minotaurs produce a lot of milk, sometimes greatly in excess of what they need for their child. Travellers occasionally buys bottles of this milk, as its protein and nutrient rich content makes it a perfect light ration.

Minotaurs are a sapient species. They are on par with your average human intelligence-wise, but with some interesting deviations.  First of, minotaurs' ability to navigate in remarkable. They have perfect visual memory when it comes to their surroundings and an innate sense of both time and direction. With these, a minotaur is highly unlikely to ever get lost and can easily navigate the cavernous labyrints they live in.  Second of, their sense of fear leans heavier towards fight than flight. They are very unlikely to freeze up when actually intimidated.

Minotaurs have eyes, ears and a nose. Their eyes especially are well-developed, supernaturally so, meaning even the lightless depths of the earth is clear as day to them.
