Nailed Leather

Humans are usually very aware of their personal weaknesses. Banding together usually helps, but for adventures, their bands often number in the single digit. For those lacking the means to acquire more expensive protection, nailed leather is usually affordable.
The many spikes are meant to dissuade more powerful creatures from grabbing or swallowing the wearer through the threat of bodily harm, while also making physical altercations more painful. There is of course a limit to how much a creature can be put off by nails, but it has stil lsaved more than one explorer's life.

Manufacturing process

The main armor is made as normal. Afterward, the nails are carefully driven through the leather from the inside, until most of the out surface is spiked.
