Sandship
Sandships are magical vessels created mostly in the kingdom of Suqara. Unlike their trade vessels, which are mostly seaborne, sandships can magically sail on sand and water. They are mostly used for exploring the desert, although some caravans also take advantage of the mobility they afford. This has lead to the spread of their construction, with a few shops in Rishinile now also having started to produce them.
The largest sandship is the Jawharat Alsahra, which is owned by the royal family of Suqara. It dwarfs other sandships by a large margin and many festivals are held on its massive deck.
Rumors go that somewhere out in the dessert lives a clan of nomads aboard a fleet of salvaged sandships, travelling inside a sandstorm. Many at traveler swear to have seen them, with a few even having met the people onboard. They are said to be a friendly lot and have more than once saved lost wanderers by offering them a lift, sometimes even letting them stay for days until they could be dropped off safely without even a hit of compensation. This has lead to stories that they are repentant jinn slavers in disguise or the lost souls of nomads seeking to save others from their own fate.
Power Generation
Onboard facilities a primarily driven by magic, though more modern sandships might also have some technological apparatuses.
Propulsion
A combination of wind in the sails and subtle magic woven into the vessel allows it to move. It needs both to reach maximum speed, but even on a windstill day, the magic can keep it moving at roughly half speed. Sandships move slightly slower on sand than on water.
Weapons & Armament
Most sandships meant for local sailing don't have much more than an armoury closet, though sandships designed for longer travel might have harpoon guns, arbalests or even automatic firearms if the owner has the money.
Armor and defense
Sandships are for the most part not designed for combat, though given the enviroment, their hulls are reinforced to handle the grit and tribulations of sand and sea.
Communication Tools & Systems
Only the fanciest of snadships have radios. Most communicate with flags or sailing really close and having someone yell loudly.
Hangars & docked vessels
Some sandboats have smaller vessels attached to the side, equiveland to rowboats, though just as capable of slow, magical propulsion.
