Sharper

Sharpers have a unique role in Suqaran society. They are criminals and this s acknowledge. Yet the skill, panache and sheer brazenness they demonstrate through their cons and antics evokes an undeniable level of respect. A real sharper is willing to try to con even dragons, angels and the most powerful of wizards. And they can often do it.   Their cons never aim to harm the target, merely relieve them of material wealth, which is considered a minor crime in Suqara. It's more like a game to them, in fact, to see if they can. They will also use their skills on nobles, high ranking officials or important foreigners who seem to need to be taken down a peg.   Being good at reading people and quite tough, sharpers can hold their own in combat, though rare is the sharper who initiate a fight. As failed cons can result in beatings, curses or worse, sharpers usually end up pretty tough and this can take opponent's by surprise if they expected these slick conmen to go down easily.

Requirements

A sharper must possess the skill and will to pull the wool over the eye of people. And not just any people. A sharper can run circles around jinns, royals, visiting dignitaries of import and the like. A true sharper is only satisfied going for powerful targets who can match their skills or at leastclaim as much. A sharper must also possess toughness, will, grit and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. Even the best sharper can be outwitted and those who cannot take the fallout aren't sharpers.

Appointment

It's hard to say exactly when a person is a sharper. Since they often work from a position of disguise and falsehood, the title is rarely given to a specific person. Rather, once their antics become called "the work of a sharper," by enough people, it can generally be presumed that the one behind it is or has become one.

Benefits

Most benefits are purely in the form of social respect, even grudgingly given, but most sharpers are also invited to the secret city of Adlan to hang with their fellows.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A sharper can lose their respect through numerous ways, such as being a sore loser, primarily going for vulnerable targets or comitting a crime against the fellows(That is cause bodily or mental harm and not just steal their stuff or fool them). Such a person is not considered a sharper.
