Snailsting Bident

Merfolk often use naturally grown materials, as working iron and other metals underwater is less than practical. In the old days, merfolk discovered large type of underwater snail that hunted with a venomous sting, which they havested for use as simple weaponry. Eventually, merfolk began raising these snails both for food and to harvest their stings, encouraging them to grow larger and sharper.   In more modern days, these stings are still used. Alchemical compounds are used to harden the stings, decreasing the risk of them shattering and to help preserve the poisonous substance stored in them. It is a popular weapon among merfolk royalty and many hae tehir's customized further.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The treated stings are hollow and can be filled with poisons. Once presure is applied to the stings, the poison is ejected from the tips.

Manufacturing process
