Xabier Molinero
Capitan Xabier Molinero (a.k.a. the Bloodstained)
A feared and respected capitan of the Luz de Guia, the moth vampire Xabier is one of his country's premiere pirate hunters. Having pursued pirates succesfuld for the passing of many years, his mere presence is enough to get scurvy seadogs everywhere to think twice of pulling anything. His dedication to hunting down heretics and sinners is renowned among his fellows and his zeal earns him much praise, that he even gave up a relatively cushy administrative position to hunt criminals across the waves.
Xabier is a skilled strategists, who understands that direct, brutal force is not necessarily a tool of the uncreative or the imbecile. It can in fact be the most effective tool if applies correctly. Using a mixture of subterfuge and positioning, he waits for the right moment, then his the weak points of his enemies with all the strength he can muster. This attitude also translates to direct combat, where he fights with such bloody brutality that he may seem an unhinged berserker, yet every strike is calculated to shatter the enemy as effeciently as possible.

Personal history
Xabier Molinero was born in 2323 AID in the country of Linterra, the fifth out of seven children of the mid-ranking Molinero noble family. He was given a basic education and a few duties, should one of his more important siblings die, but was otherwise left to his own devices by his busy family. He lived a privileged existence where nothing was him denied, though as he grew older, he found himself increasingly plagued by a feeling of hollowness.
In 2341 AID, the Luz de Guia took the country of Linterra by storm, the movement quickly gaining a powerful following, soon becoming the de facto religion of the land. Xabier was fascinated by their call to action, of personal sacrifice for the people, the search for the light and the extermination of the unworthy heathens. Against his family's wishes, he joined the fellowship and was soon converted into a vampire.
Among the Luz de Guia, Xabier found a degree of companionship and purpose he had never experienced. His rank was pointless to the Luz de Guia, only his loyalty to the cause and his personal skills mattered. He quickly managed to prove himself a skilled fighter and an able leader in battle. By the time the nation of Pezi was declared a den of heresy, he was already serving as comandante of a small troop. Over the next many years, he participated in many battles, proving himself on the frontlines time and time again, earning the nickname the Bloody for how his fur would be drenched in the blood of his enemies. Yet despite his fervor and fanatical fury, Xabier never lost his ability to lead and command. This combination of skill and power lead him to gain the rank of capitan towards the end of the way.
In 2397, the Luz de Guia formally declared their victory of Pezi complete. Xabier was given control of the coastal region of Egran, there to administrate several estates and villages. And here Xabier ran into a problem. What little he had learnt from his youth about management had long ago faded from his mind and his military skill did not translate into more civillian matters. His combination of brutal devotions and cold tactics seemed to be more a hindrance in administrating the people. After several blunders and near disaster, Xabier handed over all command to a select staff of administrators, economists and others, remaining leader of the region in name only. He himself volunteered to resume command of a vessel as a pirate hunter. This request was granted, as it was seen as a fine way to keep pressure up on the sinful sea raiders while the Luzde Guia secured peace and prosperity in what had once been Pezi land.
Since then, Xabier's been travelling the seas, hunting for pirates and other seaborne menaces. Yet he knows that one day, the call will come to finish the job of erasing the pirate's from Marcalido once and for all. And in his most private moments, he admits to dreading that day.
Gender Identity
Cisgendered. Xavier identifies himself as male.
Sexuality
Bisexual, though Xabier rarely engages much with it, putting most of his energy into his work. He has occasionally gotten intimate with fellow soldiers he's grown close to and in those cases, he's found that either gender can be attractive to him. In bed, he's forceful and direct in what he wants, though not necessarily domineering.
Education
Xabier was educated as a reserve heir, which translates to the basics of writing, mathematics, etiquette and so on, most of which he has happily discarded. Once he became part of the Luz de Guia's military, he was given a thorough education in combat, history, tactics, navigation and economy, an education that only increased as he advanced in ranks.
Employment
Xabier proved himself an able soldier and commander during the War for Pezi, resulting his eventual promotion to capitan.
Accomplishments & Achievements
In 2351 AIT, Xabier earned widespread accolades among his peers during the siege of Mured, when he took command of the ship Lanze Del Rey after the death of his capitan and rammed it through a weakened part of the city's walled off harbor. He then proceeded to lead his fellow marino into the city on a bloody rampage to fight the enemy directly. This attack lead to such widespread confusion and collapse of communication among the defenders that when the other Luz de Guia mounted an offensive, they were too uncoordinated to repel it, resulting in the walls being lost and with them, the city fell shortly thereafter.
Failures & Embarrassments
From 2397 to 2409, Xabier attempted to manage the Egran coast. However, his skills as capitan did not translate well into his new role. Food rationing was modelled after the military, resulting in wide spread dissatisfaction. Lacking agricultural knowledge, his attempts at managing the farmlands resulted in several failed harvests, only avoiding famine thanks to relief aid from neighboring areas. His blunt but devoted way of talking made him awkward at social gatherings. Mismanagement of ressources meant that things like festivals and similar where minimized, resulting in low morale and quarrelsome peasants. The only positive was that crime was kept at a low and the army was well functioning.
This experience cemented in Xabier's mind that he had become so ingrained into his role as a military man that he had absolutely no idea how to function outside of the army.
Mental Trauma
Spending decades participating in near relentless, religious warfare as erodes Xabier's ability to function outside of the context of military life. This has caused further personal problems as he feels that wanting the crusades to be perpetual goes against the principles of his faith.
Intellectual Characteristics
Xabier is sharp and observant, able to quickly analyze his surroundings even at its most hectic and formulate a strategy. He's charismatic and inspiring, knowing just what to say to make charging into the jaws of death sound like the right thing to do. His knowledge of matters of warfare makes him a master of supply lines and logistics.
However, outside the military he can come off both as awkward and somewhat clueless.
Morality & Philosophy
Xabier believes wholeheartedly in the faith of the Luz de Guia and therefore sees himself as a harbinger of paradise, charged with using his vampiric strength to cleanse the world of sinners and heathens so that the faithful may live in peace and prosperity. As of late, however, he started to find himself wishing that he never runs out of heretics to fight, not out of bloodthirst but out of fear of losing his purpose.
Taboos
Taking blood from the sinless. The Luz de Guia prohibits members from forcibly taking the blood of the faultless, which can put him at odds with other vampires. Xabier believes this expands to never harming the innocent.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
A need for purpose is his deepest motivation, fulfilled by military service to the Luz de Guia.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Xabier is a skilled soldier, with a mind for tactics and a keen eye for details. In melee, he's brutally efficient, ripping and cutting enemies apart with neither mercy nor hesitation. At a distance, he uses his potent blood magic to tear enemies asunder. He's a great navigator and can perform most functions on a ship if needed. He's a good motivator and soldiers under his command fight with hearts full of zeal and conviction.
Xabier could, however, not tell a convincing lie to save his life. And while he's good at motivating soldiers, in other contexts, he's often awkward and halting, unsure what to say or if he should even speak at all. He's also not much of a nature person. While skilled at survival, it always comes more from an angle of being up against nature rather than being in it.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes the military, sailing and reading.
Dislikes peacetime, heretics and pirates.
Virtues & Personality perks
Xabier is driven, zealous, strategic, observant, cares for the people under his command and has a strong sense of justice.
Vices & Personality flaws
Xabier is merciless, dogmatic and at some level, doubtful of himself.
Hygiene
Xabier tries to keep himself fastidiously clean, as befitting for a man of his status, though one would be hard pressed to believe that seeing him in the midst of battle, where he quickly ends up covered in the gore of his enemies.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Zenik Sollertis: Xabier has clashed on multiple occasions with this famous pirate lord ever since the campaign against Pezi first started. In the ages that have passed since then, they have come to respect each other's cleverness and ingenuity, their encounters like chess matches that also involves trying to stab your opponent whenever they let their guard down.
Religious Views
As a member of the Luz de Guia, Xabier believes in the cause of the Light, a state of enlightenment brought about by purifying the land of darkness. Darkness is defined as sin, evil acts, and it must be cleansed both from the outside and inside. He engages in rituals of fasting and meditation, to rid himself of impure desires like gluttony, a notorious sin for vampires. The Light also requires that those who are without darkness must be preserved, to help keep sin at bay, so Xabier believes he has a duty to help the people around him.
Many of his fellows among the Luz de Guia believe their hard work will bring about an age of plenty and peace, where harmony will reign among enlightened souls. This is the part Xabier currently finds himself struggling with, as such a world would mean an end to the military and thus the thing he has built most of his identity around. This has caused a crisis of sorts, as he now fears that he has been harboring impure desires of violence, that he may in fact not want the pirates of New Pezi to die out, so his crusade against them can last forever. And he fears these desires are impacting his ability to perform his duty.
Social Aptitude
In the military, he's confident, direct and inspiring. But if forced outside of this, like many social gatherings a man of his status will be expected to partake in, he becomes reluctant and withdrawn, unsure how to engage with people he feels he has no common ground with. Under such circumstances, he can almost seem to cling to any fellow military personel, trusting them to be a point of stability for him.
Hobbies & Pets
In what off-time he gives himself, he enjoys reading, studying the history of militaries and warfare. He's always keen on getting documentation of foreign militaries, eagerly learning how and why they do things. He finds stories of military blunders and bad decisions to be not only informative, but also comedic.
Wealth & Financial state
Xabier earns a lot of money from his job and from the taxes of his estate in Egran. He invest much of this into his current ship, Lanze Del Rey, and hsis Egranian estate, feeling that's the least he can do for the region he's supposed to administrate.
