Avorikat
(a.k.a. The Dragon King, The Good Dragon)
The dragon king of mount Rhysk, Avorikat is the least of the four dragons that rule domains of their own in the known world. The son of the white dragon who flew north in the 442nd Year of the Prophet, Avorikat has assumed control of his father's realm of Thatavor. Thus far friendly or at least not hostile to neighboring realms, Avorikat's rule has been marked by a slow normalization of relations between the dragon and his neighbors, though Thatavor remains a secretive hermit kingdom.
The only dragon who speaks to his neighbors, Avorikat has been remarked to be well-spoken and apparently educated in political matters. Fluent in Khelish, Kilthish, and Elvish, the dragon king has numerous times treated personally with the ambassadors of neighboring countries, and has even met the King of Kilth, Jarall Arkäntall.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Avorikat is a mighty white dragon, 10 meters long from jaws to tail, and with broad wings that appear like sheets of blue ice. Six-limbed, his fore and back legs are tipped with icy talons. Frost billows with every breath of the great beast, and even his very presence seems to chill the air. On his head is a crest of horns, white leather splayed across them to form what almost seems like a natural crown.
Despite his fearsome appearance, Avorikat is but a pale shadow of his father who was twice as big and mightier still.
Special abilities
Avorikat has not fought his neighbors, but many believe that he has the same powers of ice and snow as his father. His breath steals the warmth of living creatures, and his wingbeats bring down snow and ice. Like other dragons, he commands a horde of dragonthralls, lesser creatures of draconic stock that appear to serve his will without question.
Reign
"The dragon has been good to us."
Since some of the Old Taronians have returned to the lands ruled by Avorikat, they have noted him to be a fairly hands off ruler. Apparently levying little to no tax and allowing village ealdormen almost complete autonomy, many even opine that dragon rule is preferable to a king of men, though the dragonthralls that serve Avorikat's will continue to disconcert and scare human and dwarven settlers.
In recent times, as the population of Old Taronians has increased, these same Taronians have also noted an increase in dragonthrall activity in their communities, as Avorikat has sent his servants to gather information and hold court when needed.
Avorikat has sought to mend relations with his neighbors and reassure the Kilthians and the Exodites that he is not his father and plans only to continue to rule Taron.
It's good to see his own article! :) I do hope he is being honest when he says he is not like his father.
