Pillar of Horns Invasion
Following immediately on the heels of Hagus' Revolt, the Pillar of Horns invasion of 504 cut short the civil conflict within Crusader land and forced both belligerents to join forces to defeat the dragon once again. Following a hurried day of negotiations between Hagus and Yaner in a Howudra village, Yaner ordered his legions turned around back to Harhoun as Hagus began to devise a bloody campaign of attrition against the dragon's minions.
The Conflict
Prelude
The dragon's minions streamed forth in a great mass, rushing down from the mountains. A ravening horde, Sholos fell on the first day and the eastern side of the river was nearly undefended. Villages that heard word of the dragonthralls' coming ran, mostly to Harhoun but some south, while the Howudra Gafhi in the north did much the same, though at slower pace.
Deployment
As Yaner reformed his legions in Harhoun, Hagus was already fighting. While the Gafhi retreated, their warriors bled the dragon's minions, denying them food and shelter. Hunger and instinct driving them south, they did not seek to cross the river. Rather, the greater part of the horde moved towards their true target, consuming all in their path. The hammer would fall on Harhoun, and it would be upon Yaner and his Gafhi Serafi to resist.
Battlefield
However, Yaner had no intention of allowing the dragon's minions to gather their strength at his gates. Relying that the horde from the north would still be disorganized and late to the battle from Hagus' efforts, the Gafhi Serafi marched out across the river with the Ras Gafhi at its head.
Against him marched the dragon's horde, lunging for Harhoun to take it by storm. Instead, they met Yaner 2 days out from the Agbithan capital, in the destroyed village of Koskaro with the Gafhi Serafi prepared for battle.
The Engagement
With the Pillar of Horns unprepared to give battle and missing a portion of his strength, Yaner's host crushed their enemy. The great beast called the Pillar of Horns himself was routed but not found after the battle. Yaner's host immediately turned north, scattering the dragonthralls that had been coming to join their leader in the push for Harhoun.
Outcome
With the dragonthrall host scattered, both Hagus and Yaner set about driving the monsters back to the mountains whence they came. Yaner retook Sholos, and even pushed into the mountains themselves for a few days before turning back. The immediate threat was defeated and the dragon's forces were left to slowly recover under the dragon queen's wings.
Aftermath
Dragonthrall attacks into crusader territory have been less frequent since Pillar of Horns' failure. Though the invasion did destroy and displace villages in the eastern side of the river, since the end of the war Agbithan Gafhi has been at least a bit safer.
