Saasaqib

Saasaqib is one of the 23 emirates of the Runberi confederation. One of the easternmost members of the confederation, Saasaqib trades heavily with the Valen realms to the east of the union, as well as even with Exodus. While a major center of commerce in its own right, and a particularly large importer of Valen wine, Saasaqib is especially known as a center of the performing arts.   Among the Runberi cities, Saasaqib is known to be an innovative and forward thinking city, a center of philosophy and the arts. The influence of the Temple of Nuwa is seen to be weak in the city, and it is said that the city caters to every vice, if one knows where to look.

Government

Like other Runberi city-states, Saasaqib is ruled by an assembly that elects an emir. The assembly is composed of city residents that have substantial wealth and assets based in the city, and control an enterprise. Unlike many other cities in the emirates, Saasaqib has not made explicit the requirements to worship Nuwa or be Runberi by culture and birth.

Industry & Trade

While Saasaqib is particularly famed for its dancers and musicians, as well as its arts college, the city also has a strong shipbuilding industry. While among the more significant shipbuilders in Runber, Saasaqib is also known to make fine jewelry despite having to import much of the raw materials from the Thaner realms and Kilth. In recent decades, the jewelcrafters of Saasaqib have been forced to adapt to the dragon troubles of the Thaner realms, but have largely replaced those imports with Kilthian ones.   Saasaqib is also a major center of everyday products, housing specialist craftsmen to produce the things that are not economical to bring in from far abroad.

Tourism

Saasaqib is the most popular tourist destination in the Runberi coast, and indeed the entirety of the Great Bay. Visitors are drawn in by the spectacle of the Sarahha Dance Theater, the nightlife of the city, and the wine culture. Particularly the Night of the Second Sun festivities in Saasaqib are legendary.
