The World - A Primer

This is an introductory page for my world, one which will hopefully make it slightly easier to get some kind of coherent picture of the world. I've had a few active worldbuilding areas in this world, most of which are at least partially self-contained, as well as some introductory articles to other parts of the world without much depth. There are also some overarching articles, but not many. In some ways, this world is almost better conceived as a group of settings that are connected to eachother at the top level, but are mostly self-contained.

Main worldbuilding areas

The World Information category contains just a few articles, with the Magic and Classification of Creatures articles being the most relevant to the broad strokes of the world.
The Exodus category contains articles about the elven empire of Exodus, their human subjects in Cymbar, and to a lesser extent Khelish realms other than Cymbar. These were the first articles written on worldanvil about a year ago, and most of the worldbuilding focused on the city of Fin-Allan. This is probably the best article to start with when exploring this part of the setting. The ideas I was mostly exploring with this part of the setting were class conflict, as well as how that changes when a traditional feudal upper class then gets subordinated to another society that has a completely incompatible understanding of status.
The Tescary category contains articles about the archipelago of the Tescaries in the middle of the Great Bay and its people. The Tescaries is the only article not in a subcategory here, and serves as an introduction. The main ideas explored here are about the interaction of state and non-state peoples, and what happens when they come into conflict. This worldbuilding area bleeds somewhat into the next one.
The Runber category, which has 8 subcategories. The United Runberi Emirates is the best introductory article currently, laying out the general political organization of this non-imperial empire of halflings. This category is likely to change a lot during summer camp. as Runber will be my active worldbuilding area. Runber has shown up in some of my other worldbuilding, mostly as a foreigner and from a position of strength. I'm planning on writing more from their perspective in this summer camp.
The Children of Aktar category, which has four subcategories. The Agbithan Crusade is the best introductory article, describing the collection of mercenary armies&rump state fighting the dragon Inkrimane. Active worldbuilding area for WorldEmber 2021 and Summer Camp 2022.

Other categories

The other categories serve mostly as a way to not have huge amounts of uncategorized articles.

  • The Temple of Nuwa category has been separated out because it is realistically going to span multiple worldbuilding areas.
  • Species and Cultures has uncategorized species and cultural groupings that don't really belong anywhere else at the moment due to lacking a clear connection to one (and only one) of the active worldbuilding areas.
  • Technology also doesn't have a lot in it at the moment. The banknotes, water and sheep wool articles are somewhat specific to Runber and Cymbar respectively, but I've separated them out because the technologies still exist outside those areas.
  • Locales has a few self-contained articles about places in the world that didn't fit into any of the major worldbuilding areas. Some of them might be decent reading.
  • The North is mostly for Kilth and Angerland, but only has 3 articles. I'm planning on using this as a major worldbuilding area eventually.
  • Shaftbuilders has some articles relating to the long extinct culture of shaftbuilder dwarves.
  • Meta-Articles just has this document, a pledge document and an article detailing how to translate the magic systems of the setting into Pathfinder's third party Spheres of Power subsystem. Also has the bones of a custom ttrpg system.
  • Short Stories has two flash-fiction length short stories in it. I write these basically when it strikes my fancy.
