Androtherion (an-dro-THEER-ee-an)

This species category comes from the elvaen phrase, meaning "beast-men," referring to semi-intelligent, humanoid creatures with animalistic qualities. The title "androtherion" is sometimes used to refer to any beast-like humanoid (including saurians and graggoths) but is usually used more specically to refer to creatures that incorporate the traits of mammalian herd-beast with those of a human being. These beings are the result of intentional genetic manipulation brought about by ethereal means.   SATYRS: The Satyrs are a race of woodland creatures, who personify the free, wild, and untrammelled life of the forest. Their appearance combines features of goats and humans. They have flat broad noses, pointed ears, and curving horns sprouting from their foreheads; they have rough shaggy skin and instead of feet, they have goat hooves. They lead lives of hunting and combat, followed the chase of pleasure and self-indulgence. While they can be frightening and violent, they also revel in music, dancing, and wine. They are the consorts of fae woodland nymphs (nymphodae), with whom they are able to reproduce. Latter Age satyrs are the descendants of ancient Elvani dryads who choose to permanently adopt a wild and natural lifestyle, by changing their physical form but over time came no longer able to revert to their orginal Elvani form.   MINOTAURS: Minotaurs are barrel-chested muscular humanoid creatures with heads resembling those of bulls. Their horns range in size from about 1-2 feet long. Instead of feet, they have large bull hooves, upon which they stand upright. They often ornament their horns with metal rings or sheathe them in metal to protect them from damage. Minotaurs are quite rare in latter ages, but were created in the Age of Epiphany by Estari etherics to serve as fighters in gladitorial combat.
