Balco Browntree

Balco Browntree is the owner/proprietor of a large forest compound on the edge of the Stonewood, along the main north-south merchant road of Paracaal. A strange man, with the stature and build of a duergun but the pointed ears of a fae, his ethnic origin is difficult to determine. He is said to have a variety of ethereal abilities, speaks many languages, and is very experienced with woodland medicine.
Known by the fae as Iavas Nimloth, meaning "Autumn Tree," most people use the Wessan version of this title as if it were his surname, calling him "Browntree" or "Redtree" (due to his sigil being a tree with red-orange foliage). His favored name, Balco, is the one by which he is most commonly known; it comes from an ancient eastern language from the term Bāḷaka, meaning Child.
Balco is always interested in hearing news and information from the broader world. Due to this, and his extensive library, he is actually a well-read librarian and sage.
Balco's Lodge: This old, old inn has stood for over five hundred years and is well-known to traders along the north-south merchant road between Rodessa and Gallia. Built within the bounds of Fal-L'thian (the Stonewood), the large structure seems very rustic, but is well-kept. The lodge appears to have been added on to many times, making it a rather sprawling complex of rooms and connected chambers.
Redtree Inns and Couriers: Balco owns a number of inns in various towns in Wessa, known by the placard a tree with red-orange foliage. Using these inns a way-stations, Balco runs a region-wide courier service. This network of messengers operates very descreetly, but its runners are well known for their trustworthiness and commitment.
Goldenwing: Balco’s colorful windsteed is a flying kanusus stabled at the Balco's Lodge. It is decorated with the colors of a monarch butterfly. People debate whether this unusual coloration is due to dyes and inks, or is of natural origin -- but Balco will never tell. The windsteed can be saddled and ridden by Balco or his couriers, as the need presents itself.
