Januba and Chelia
In general, the southern continent of the world is not as broadly inhabited -- or even explored -- by human beings. The farther south one goes, the more this is the case. In ancient days, the south was the home of Saurian civilizations, which were spread across many different natural bioms. Januba and Chelia made up the western side of the continental landmass.
JANUBA: The name Januba refers to large central region that makes up most of the southern continent. It is a broad temperate land of plains and tundras with no settlements or cities. Januba means "south" in the Ismani tongue; it is directly south of the great Ismani Caliphate of later ages. The orginal/alternate name, Darom, means "south" in Escharan Uruk.
CHELIA: The far western side of the southern mainland is known a Chelia, a more rocky and mountainous land. This was the ancient home of the Gran'Cheluk empire, one of the most advanced and powerful of the Saurian civilizations. The rainforests and swamps of the sub-continent of Traudira were under the rule of the Cheluks to the south.
Fauna & Flora
Kouso: In the southern continent, the kouso is a common tree that grows about 20 feet high, often at high elevation. The dried green-purple flowers have a vinegar-like odor, tasting bitter and acrid; the female flowers are chiefly collected, although not exclusively so. Kouso is used to expel intestinal parasites, such as tape worms. One dose is said to be effective, merely causing a slight nausea, but it is said to never fail in expelling the worm.
