Spriggans
Spriggans are small furry animals the size of a large squirrel, resembling a cross between an aye-aye and a spider monkey. Native to southern Wessa, they are known among the southern Gremin by the name "Kalanuru" (bristle monkeys). Some say their long bristly hair resembles tufts of straw or wooden sticks (especially along their backs). This natural camouflage allows them to disappear quickly into undergrowth when escaping predators.
Spriggans love shiny objects, which they collect in their nest; some who live near human habitations even have the ability to pick pockets. They are known to be clever animals, who are not only thieving but mischievous. Spriggans have strong muscles for their size and can hold human-sized objects. They are able to jump far and high in a single bound and land without being hurt. They will eat just about anything.
A spriggan’s eye color relates its emotions, with blue being normal, red indicating hunger, white indicating anger, and yellow indicating fright. They communicate in squirrel-like chirps. They dislike sprites and pixies.
