There are a number of ways the Pael can be manipulated, each being knowns as a Virtue.
There are other ways to "tweak" the Pael, but these typically do not create large effects and are not considered a Virtue.
Mercy - Push
Pushing the Pael is used to help seal wounds and push illness from a body. It is considered the Healing Virtue.
Augury - Pull
By pulling the Pael close, you can catch a glimpse of what's just beyond sight... often the future. Sometimes this just aids in decisions or gives special insight, and sometimes it is literally a peek at what is to come.
Sovereignty - Bend
By bending the Pael, you move all of the things that are sitting carefully upon it. In our world, this creates the effect of those objects moving spontaneously through the air. Novices with this ability might be able to float a rock across the room, a or key to an open hand. Masters can create deadly weapons.
Discernment - Stretch
Stretching the Pael thins the borders that coat all living creatures, making emotion and thoughts more transparent, more volatile... and thus susceptible to influence.
Fury - Break
As might be expected, breaking the Pael unleashes raw, powerful energy. This energy can be used directly as part of an attack, or it can be used to do other damage, like lighting a fire. More refined uses of fury might be able to create energy shields or even create blocks you could walk upon.
