S40-003: Don't Trust Deer

General Summary

FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARY MAYA █████ REGARDING THE INCIDENT MISSION IN RIO GRANDE NATIONAL FOREST, FILED 10/10/1993, 3:14am MTZ
  Mission Date: 10/6/1993 - 10/8/1993
Mission Goal: To investigate an increase in sightings of paranormal entities in the Forest, secondary goal of rescuing any civilians attacked by the entities.
Incidents: Agent Stephenson, despite his hiking abilities, was killed near one of the Forest's campsites. Per Agent Mullen, 'He better be dead for his sake'.   Summary: Four agents were randomly assigned to a team under Director Peña's new 'Odd Couple' initiative, trekking into the Colorado wilderness to verify any rumors about supernatural creatures terrorizing hikers in the area. The rumors were verified, surviving agents reporting that creatures imitating the Forest's local deer population were capable of imitating human speech patterns and overpowering their prey with supernatural strength and speed. Reports obtained from SCP Sites in the Appalachian Mtns. indicate that the agents encountered a mule deer subspecies of SCP-6448, pending approval from Site 40's managing director we will send out a task force to obtain samples of the first known instances of SCP-6448 west of the Appalachias. Unrelated, one civilian was safely rescued from the Forest and provided with low-grade amnestics before being released by the survivng agents.

FROM THE DESK OF SITE DIRECTOR PEÑA IN RESPONSE TO SECRETARY MAYA'S SUMMARY OF THE MISSION IN RIO GRANDE NATIONAL FOREST, FILED 10/11/1993, 10:03am MTZ
Operation Odd Couple has once again proven to be a rousing success, with a 25% mortality rate and detailed reporting from all survivors to ensure a well-rounded picture of the situation. Operation Odd Couple will remain in effect for the rest of the fiscal year, approval granted to send to Team ████████-████ to collect samples of SCP-6448 ASAP.

FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARY MAYA █████ IN RESPONSE TO DIRECTOR PEÑA'S APPROVAL OF TEAM ████████-████'S LATEST ASSIGNMENT, FILED 10/11/1993, 8:47pm MTZ
Several samples of SCP-6448 were collected by SCP agents (including the reanimated corpse of Agent Stephenson), though casualties were severe. ██ were killed and █ were left so mutilated that they will no longer be able to serve on future SCP Site 40 missions. Taking emergency measures to order mandatory overtime from all available security personnel to ensure a safe and secure transfer of the samples into the Site's high-security research wing.

FROM THE DESK OF DIRECTOR PEÑA IN RESPONSE TO SECRETARY MAYA'S LATEST REPORT, FILED 10/12/1993, 9:24am MTZ
There's no better feeling than clocking into work on a Monday morning to find that a high-risk Site transfer was accomplished with minimal injuries over the weekend. The 55% mortality rate of the mission to capture these samples is unfortunate, between this and the Grand Junction incident our high-level agents are dying at higher rates than our newest recruits. So long as current mortality rates for new recruits stay within the desired 33-40% rate, Site 40's current focus will be on decreasing the mortality rates of its high-level agents and security staff.
