The Tempest
A film written and directed by the mage Mr. Arkadin released in 1986 adapted from the Shakespeare play of the same name. After a near-death experience in 1985 and awakening to a world of magic, Mr. Arkadin believed that the best way to unravel arcane mysteries was through the power of cinema.
While critics praised Mr. Arkadin's performance as the magician Prospero, the movie was a commercial flop and only received two nominations at the Academy Awards. Mr. Arkadin managed to make several breakthroughs with magical abilities during the film, but he would struggle for close to a decade to find funding for another chance at such magic.
