WHiV Session 2: A Gamble at the Dunes
General Summary
Aug. 18, 1994 - Thursday
As the hunters started their day, they read in the news about how the Vegas World Casino would be shutting down at the end of the week. The site of last year's massacre had gotten purchased by an unnamed organization, set to be demolished and replaced by a new resort. Following a lead from K's friend Alice Green, the trio of hunters headed to the Dunes Casino to meet with some mages and learn more about the rituals capable of summoning a monster like the Ghostface Killer. Bankers and Wall Street bros filled the hotel for the American Securitization Forum, discussing ways to tank the global economy while still making a profit. David and K learned about one wizkid named Arthur who was making a killing on Wall Street, and K managed to get him to talk after losing a couple hands of poker to him. Eleanor spent her time at the Dunes gaining access to the country club, hobknobbing with the wealthy patrons and the casino's owner Frankie Luoni. Together the three of them picked up plenty of useful intel about to help in their mission: K learned that the summoning ritual was one that only a handful of people could accomplish, and Eleanor found out that the Dunes was the place taking over the Vegas World Casino. And David, ever vigilant for running into people from his old jobs, noticed plenty of mobsters handling security at the Dunes. A couple of the goons headed over to Arthur's table to kick him out of the place for his supernatural gambling skills, David's quick thinking saving K from getting roped into things further. With these new clues in hand, the hunters decided to see how deep the conspiracy went in regards to the Dunes' interest in the Vegas World property. Eleanor returned to the country club later that evening, David and K keeping watch by hacking into the casino's security cameras and radio systems. David managed to pick up a ton of great audio, learning about secret basement levels beneath the hotel and some shady characters working at the Dunes. Eleanor got to meet some of these shady individuals up close, one of them clearly pulling the strings behind Frankie and the rest of the Dunes. Moe Green tried to convince Eleanor to forget everything about the Vegas World Massacre and get out of town, threatening her in more than ways than one to get her alone for a 'private drink'. No stranger to vampires and their predatory behavior, K raced up to the Dunes and pulled the fire alarm to give Eleanor just enough time to escape Moe's grasp. With mages, vampires, and ghosts all haunting the Vegas Strip, the hunters' mission was now more urgent than ever.
