WHiV Session 5: Gambling on Red
General Summary
Aug. 21 - 28, 1994
Not ones to waste time, on Sunday afternoon the hunters drove out to the address they found in Franz Schenk's car the night before to look for any more leads on Moe Green. They found a fancy wine bar on the edge of town, preparing for some kind of event later in the evening. David sneaked inside to find a banquet being prepared in the wine cellar, meanwhile Eleanor and Kate tased one of the guards on duty to interrogate him for info. The guard was pretty forthcoming after being driven out to the edge of Lake Mead, confessing how Moe Green was a pseudonym for the vampire Bugsy Siegel and how he'd become a ghoul in his service many years prior. As a thanks for the info the hunters filled him full of drugs and dropped him off on Henderson's main street. Armed with such valuable intel, the party prepared for a nighttime raid against Moe and any other vampires present at the wine bar banquet. Disguising David's getaway van to better blend into the wine bar's parking lot, they drove out into the night for a violent confrontation with Moe. Sneaking into the wine bar from the back entrance David had hacked into earlier in the night, the party raced down hallways armed with shotguns and explosives to smoke out the vampires. K got into a knife fight with the mook guarding the staircase, giving David the perfect window to toss a bundle of C4 down into the wine cellar. The explosion overshot and missed Moe Green by a few yards, but the shockwave pushed him up the staircase and straight into the range of the hunter's shotguns. The combined force of Eleanor and David's firepower blew the vampire's face clean off, leaving the Prince of Las Vegas nothing more than a pile of dust at the bottom of the staircase. The getaway proved more challenging, David and K both shot up by Moe's guards in the chaos of the escape. Through a combination of luck and dexterity Eleanor managed to drag the bodies of her fallen allies back out into the parking lot, frenzied vampires triying to escape the explosion providing some cover for the group. As screams and shrieks and sirens filled the night air, Eleanor managed to heal K enough to help her safely drive away into the dark. David's shady veterinarian helped patch up the two hunters over the next few days, the laying low as the dust settled from their chaotic attack. Jenny Slater's coverage of vampiric mobsters had the entire town abuzz with fear and speculation, and the wine bar bombing had people clamoring for some large-scale intervention. The hunters could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their sacrifices had helped clean up the city, but they couldn't rest knowing that the one who had summoned the Ghostfaced Killer was still out there. As they layed low in the vacant strip malls on the edge of the desert they plotted their next moves, preparing to drive out to Los Angeles to pay Cella Vivaldi a visit...
