WWDitC Ch. XI: Things Best Left Behind

General Summary

Jan. 21 - 22, 1994
With a weekend to themselves, Alex, K, and Jason gathered intel and explored more of their domain while Daphne worked on some projects of her own. K got a lead from Stella about a rare book dealer in Portland called Loose Ends Antiquities, perhaps someplace where more supernatural items could be discovered. Meanwhile Jason reluctantly went on a very kinky date with Anna Holland, a secretary in the University of Washington's financial department. At least it wasn't all for naught: he got a couple folders' worth of intel on Ted Conklin's Anarch agents about their university days, and he gained a piece of blackmail over Anna when she let slip that she stole from school fundraisers.   Caitlin Green and Tommy Barrett were university students back in the 70's and 80's before disappearing from the public record (presumably after they were embraced by the Anarchs and started doing Ted's bidding). Tommy was a renowned swimmer while Caitlin was a failing astronomer, one who dabbled too much into astrology for her research papers. The coterie investigated the old observatory on campus to see if they could find any leads on her, and sure enough there was a hidden room behind a supply closet where Caitlin had been squatting until just a couple months prior. Star charts and astrology tables littered the room, leading Alex to worry that Rostya Belov and the other Tremere may be involved in this conspiracy.   But Alex had other things on his mind, most notably all the possessions he had to get rid of to achieve the first step of Golconda with Shivani Kapur. The ruler of Pike Place Market hadn't fed from a living being in more than six months, and she promised to teach Alex to do the same if he first abandoned the objects that connected him to his mortal life. With K present he returned home and started burning old clothes and photographs, eventually making the decision to move out of his dad's house and find somewhere closer to the University of Washington to rent to create as much distance between him and his past life.   Jason continued to check on Trea, but her condition had improved little in the days since she was handcuffed to a bed in Tom Hatch's room. She still wanted what was best for Jason, but the ghoulishness of her condition would lead to a brutal recovery...
