Concept: Long-range Teleportation
Sometimes confused with the term of matter transference, long-range teleportation refers to the studied ability for Leray agents and mages to invoke an artificial teleportation symbol (not a marking) as a ground-based glyphring, spreading about four meters in diameter each time one is invoked. Teleportation is not exactly easy on the human body, but highly effective in getting from one point to another in record time. Teleportation is not easy to learn, as it involves heavy and rapid mental calculation of the entry node (starting point) and exit node (destination point). A wielder can only teleport within Sprawn Valley; never into or outside of the country even if initiated inside of the veil.
Access: Only certain members of the Leray agency, Leray elites, and Leray mages are supposed to know how to invoke teleportation. The ability is not intended to be learned by ordinary Leray wielders or civilians, and the attempt of doing so will attract negative attention onto that person, since it is illegal for those parties.
Drawbacks: Long-range teleportation has many draw backs. The usefulness of others being teleported to the same relative destination if standing inside the teleportation symbol can also be a potential exploit in the field of operations. But more important to note, long-range teleportation has the danger of successful invocation into the wrong or invalid destination area. If a wielder using this ability did not perform the calculation correctly, they may end up totally underground, or several hundred feet in the air, which is a situation no one would be able to recover from, thus is this ability dangerous to the untrained. Though teleportation tracing is a tactical advantage agents use to find criminals using this ability, it is in effect a disadvantage to the one being traced. Teleportation symbols maintain the entry and exit node of energy for several minutes after invocation, allowing Leray agents who are trained to invoke aura magic that enables them to trace the other end of the node of teleportation.
Long-range teleportation may also be achieved by the use of rare teleportation crystals, usable by any wielder who does not fully understand the methods of teleportation. Teleportation crystals may often be preprogrammed with a set destination path and coordinates.
