This is the seventh book of the Leray Series, where a new day triggers a new journey of alternative interest. Jane, Danny, and Taylor are reunited once again, and can now do the right thing as a team.
Details: Jane has failed. The attempt to run through the Alpha Zero was a deadly one, and her final mistake. Yet against all odds, Jane has survived the deadly encounters of Alpha Zero, but she still failed in her original mission to remove the symbol from her body. And who was it that saved her from certain doom, dragging her all the way back to Lennith City? That would be the very two people she abandoned during the Tilsit incident.
Danny and Taylor are back, but it's difficult to forgive Jane for all of the horrible behaviors she has exhibited lately. The reasons do not justify the means for such reckless behavior. Given the failure, Jane will likely never become a Leray master as she has always dreamed of. This symbol in her skin is the mark of an illegal weapon from a war that ended over 200 years ago, and those who are marked are considered enemies of the state. Even so, those concerns have already been replaced with new ones.
After witnessing the horrors of the dark zone, Jane finally understands how much danger the people of Lennith are really in. The dark veil is growing in size, now categorized as a level-4 danger zone. If this keeps up, Lennith will be swallowed up by the dark veil, until there is no safe place left in Sprawn Valley. Oddly enough, the leader of Sprawn Valley, the magic champion has done next to nothing to combat this apocalyptic threat. Jane's new mission is to find out why, and take command of the situation if it comes to that. Though hesitant to join Jane again with a plan more insane than the last, Danny and Taylor realize that Jane's primary motivations have changed. The journey has changed, to protect the core values of Leray magic that Jane and others care so much about. Despite the implausibility of this plan, Jane still has her secret weapon for backup.
