Intrusive Rejection

Intrusive Rejection is a very rare and misunderstood phenomena that may occur in wielders who have either suffered specific real time damage, or who have a medical ailment or illness that negatively impacts that wielder's magical circuits. Intrusive Rejection is the process in which the veil of protection is still protecting and granting magic to a wielder who can suddenly no longer make the correct use of their magic due to an MP leak. A slow degeneration of MP without the use of any magic can be caused by the state in which the body uses that MP energy passively to keep the onset of real time damage from occurring.   During a case of Intrusive Rejection, a wielder may notice either the inability to use magic, or constant backfiring of their magic, as their magical circuits are not capable of handling the load. Intrusive Rejection can often be painful when magic backfires, triggering micro-magic misfiring at the edge of exit circuits, creating a visual effect at the hands or arms as though static electricity surrounds the limbs.

Causes

Real time damage caused physically, or internally by tough illnesses. MP leaks in particular trigger the effect.

Symptoms

Pain when attempting to use magic. Inability to properly use any magic, though the condition may come and go. General weakness of the body and senses in severe cases.

Treatment

Real time damage or illnesses take time to heal, so it would also apply to Intrusive Rejection as well. Attempted usage of any magic will only make all symptoms much worse, and can worsen the state of the natural immune system by drawing too much energy. Stop using magic is the best treatment, rather a preventative.

Prevention

Do not use magic while ill or severly injured.

History

There is little history. The condition is not thought to be very new, but still widely understudied. Attempts to invoke this condition are considered unethical.

Cultural Reception

Intrusive Rejection is not well recognized, so the symptoms of which at its most severe case mimic that of one who is severely ill with cold or flu-like symtoms that are bad enough to stop a wielder from using magic. As a result, they are generally avoided if such symptoms are obvious and present.
