Light Lock

Light Lock is not an attack spell. This unique ability is only known to advanced Leray agents and other lawful parties who have trained with the ability. Light Lock creates magical handcuffs of light and other unknown physical matter that renders the target fully incapable of using their magical circuits. Agents use this to detain criminals and remove the danger of combat retaliation.

Effect

When two are attached to a wielder's body, that person becomes totally incapable of using any and all forms of magical energy. Additionally, they become unprotected by the Leray veil for the duration these cuffs last. So long as a person is cuffed with Light Lock disks, they cannot use any magic. The cuffs also bind limbs together like ordinary handcuffs.

Side/Secondary Effects

The affected person is suddenly unsupported by the veil, meaning their protection from real time damage is lost. This could cause some health issues if stats were low to begin with prior to being locked in the disks.

Manifestation

These Light Locks look like solid bright blue bars of glowing light wrapped entirely around the wrists, ankles, or other limbs of a person's body, and pulsate with energy linked to the wielder who created them. The Light Locks do not have a keyhole system, and only that wielder can disable the spell. Dark black metal rings appear around the very edged of the glowing bars as extra sturdy protection. The fact that this physical matter can be created from Leray magic fascinates lots of scientific mages.

Light Lock can only be used by specific wielders who are trained to do so, and the ability is not known to the public for safety reasons. Light Locks are effective in disabling the magic of another target, but they do have a few drawbacks and potential vulnerabilities. After the ability is cast, those Light Locks are connected to the wielder who invoked them. If that target separates with a distance of 2.5 miles, the disks will fail early. The disks also have a maximum time limit of 2 hours, and require the surrounding veil of magic in order to function in the first place. So, they can only be used in Sprawn Valley. Light Locks can also put agents in awkward positions since the use of these devices disables the natural protection from real time damage done to those wearing them. Additionally, Light Locks can only be used on living creatures, and have no effect on physical matter or other animals.
