The use of lunar magic caused many symptoms for wielders in the distant past. One of the most known was death and cancer. But the occasional lunar madness would set in too. It was said that anyone with the psychological state of this ailment was soon to die anyway, as it pointed to sharp mental decline, brought on by the damages set in from the unsancationed use of lunar magic.
Causes
The use of lunar magic is deadly for a reason, but the death and damage can occur in various forms, including brain damage and harmful effects to one's mental psyche.
Symptoms
Those with lunar madness gradually lost their sanity, including their sense of family and identity. The psychological breakdown went all the way to extreme memory loss, loss of reality, severe paranoia, Schizophrenia, and other mental fatigues. Many with this condition were even driven to suicide.
Treatment
Many were surprised by how much longer those with the condition seemed to last compared to others who also used lunar magic while maintaining their sanity. However, random ailments did eventually catch up to all who used lunar magic in the experiments. Whether brought on by the cause or not, lunar madness is not a curable or treatable condition.
Prognosis
Death will soon follow.
Prevention
Simply do not invoke lunar magic.
History
During the secret history of the lunar magic experiments predating Leray magic, these conditions were recorded and eventually leaked to other mages. The current government of Sprawn Valley safeguards these secrets well.
