Real Time Damage
Real time damage is the concept of words everyone in Sprawn Valley uses to represent the difference between combat damage normally obtained from Leray battles, (which can heal instantly from magical orbs), and damage to the body that is unnatural by the laws of the veil, and are often permanent or longer lasting, as they are caused to an individual who in the moment is unprotected by the veil of magic. In other words, real time damage can be considered any potentially lethal damage to the body, whether caused by magic or not, which usually results from being unprotected by the veil, or being stricken with a dark magic spell. An easier example of real time damage is compared in the world outside of Sprawn Valley, a world never protected by any veil, nor granted any magic. Wounds are far more painful and deadlier than they would be in the magic world. After sustaining real time damage, an individual may have serious problems attempting to disperse magic regularly, and will not heal quickly from the effects of the veil. In addition, certain wounds sustained in real time damage may further prevent the veil from stopping new real time injuries from occurring.
Real time damage can come in many forms. But for the unlucky wielders who contract an illness or disease, real time damage may occur to them as well from the excessive wear of the internal immune system, though usually not at all dangerous; just enough to limit the veil's protection, distort the flow of magic through magical circuits, and rarely invoke intrusive rejection. Real time damage can in theory damage a person's magical circuits and trigger intrusive rejection.
Causes
Real time damage is considered a conceptual condition because it can be applied in terms to anyone in the outside world sustaining a paper cut, to a man dying of cancer. The cause of real time damage is all of natural life in the normal world. But in Sprawn Valley, the cause is more linked to anything that either limits or prevents the veil from properly protecting that individual. For example, dark magic specifically rejects the veil's protection properties when striking any object or person, and is the most common associated term for this nation. Another example would be natural occurrences that the veil cannot protect one from, such as certain illnesses, falls from great heights, spells with power levels exceeding 10, or environmental extremities.
Symptoms
In Sprawn Valley, real time damage can invoke intrusive rejection. But most often, real time damage is considered a reduction in the physical composition of the vessel that contains that which is alive. Deep cuts, burns, scrapes, bruises, internal damage, broken bones, dislocated limbs, and obvious signs of irreparable damage to the body is the symptom. Additionally, energy scopes associated with that person will often shift in color to a glowing red with a warning within the energy scope reporting "Unknown Recovery Error," as sent out by the veil's detection that there is a problem with the natural recovery rate of HP and MP. HP and MP stats are tied together to physical health. Therefore, anyone with real time damage will only have a proportionate access to their maximum HP and MP, which is easily viewable on an energy scope. Healing Orbs and MP Orbs may mitigate some of the pain, but cannot restore HP or MP levels back to the maximum state. Leray magic in effect cannot restore or fix real time damage.
Treatment
In Sprawn Valley, if the injuries are not lethal, any person with real time damage can recover over a long duration of time. The veil slowly regenerates HP lost by Leray-related damages, but it can do nothing against real time damage. A person who is in Sprawn Valley and a person who is outside of the country will have no noticeable difference in the recovery time, although the pain absorber from the veil makes that recovery more comforting.
Sustaining additional damage even in the form of Leray magic can potentially worsen the existing real time damage, and so wielders who have real time damage are discouraged from combat.
Through the use of Starlov Boosters, the passive recovery from even the toughest of real time damages can be improved significantly. Starlov Boosters are a medical miracle in Sprawn Valley, ironically using a combination of advanced medical science with a concentration of Leray magic to speed up the recovery process against real time damage. The effectiveness of these injections is limited, but still noticeable.
Prognosis
The prognosis depends purley on the injury/illness and to what severity or progression it has occurred. Even Starlov Boosters cannot bring one back from the dead, or seal an open wound considered fatal. If the injury or illness through real time damage is fatal in the outside world, it is also fatal in Sprawn Valley.
