Scarlet Warfare: Hope and Fearlessness {Story}

Written by Lysander_works

This is the forteenth book of the Leray Series, where Jane, Danny, and Taylor must decide what to do after a crushing defeat from the Scarlets. Jane threatens to give up and disband JDT forever, but there may still be a faint hope of recovering from this tide-turning loss.   Details: As the goals of the deadly Scarlet Syndicate become clearer, so does the impending doom to the nation of Sprawn Valley. Full warfare is enacted against the infrastructure of the local areas, including the electronic jamming disabling all nationwide radio and cellular communications.

The artifact that was found to have potential use to the Scarlets has been taken by their ruthless leader, Lance. With this tool, the device can be configured to store and release a tremendous amount of pure lunar energy without harm to the user. Of course, the only remaining question is what that energy would be used for, since it does not follow the same format of any particular spells. Are the Scarlets really following the ancient legends of a righteous resurrection to a dangerous being, or are Kite and Gleeon waiting for their perfect opportunity?

Hope is being suffocated in the zone that was once peaceful, and any amount that Jane had left has been drained away following the absolute defeat at the secret Scarlet research facility. The one person she wanted to save failed to make it out anyway, and the one tool she was tasked with guarding, the Mesha Eye, has also been taken from her team. Now the enemy is on its way to target the crystal core of the veil. Their success will send Leray magic back to the stone ages, destroying the one thing unique to Sprawn Valley.

There was a good reason to fight these criminals, to fight for Leray magic and protect the futures of everyone who relies on it, but the cost of this fight keeps escalating ever higher. Is getting the Mesha Eye back really worth the risk of losing their greatest friends? A swift death is the only likely outcome of a continued resistance. Nobody should ever have to pay that price just to use or protect magic.     Book Number: 14/19
