Shadow Wave
A dark wave attached to the ground that is unguided is launched to the target, sliding in order to advance, but carries potential for damage by infusing magical properties into a slashing attack combination that sustains itself for a short moment after a direct impact. Shadow Wave is an important ability because it has a wide variety of evolutionary variations.

Manifestation
After charging MP energy into both hands, the wielder throws that energy to the ground. Aiming is affected by the angle and direction at this stage, and Shadow Wave cannot change course once it is launched. Once the wave forms on the ground, the spell becomes visible as it advances at a speed of 35 miles per hour, forming a very dark (nearly black and translucent) composition of fast moving swirling shadows that carry with it a heavy and somewhat painful cacophony of noise. The wave can vary in size, averaging at a height of one meter and a length of 2.6 meters. The wave starts off smaller and grows to full size as it travels to the target, while the speed picks up over time.
On impact to the target, the shadow wave suddenly expands in size while the wave itself suddenly inflicts several dozens of magical slashes to the bottom area of the person over a very short period of time, holding that wielder in place during the payload to prevent an early escape. Once the slashes have all been executed, the wave suddenly explodes (in force) while dispersing, launching that targeted wielder back if the force is strong enough.
Shadow Waves can break through other spells or advancing objects and obstacles if the Shadow Wave power level greatly overpowers the opposing force. If the Shadow Wave comes into physical contact with anything rivaling its own power level, the wave's payload will activate early on that object instead, advancing forward again if that Shadow Wave does overpower what is opposing it on occasion. Because of this, many wielders can use their weapons as a means of partially blocking a Shadow Wave under certain circumstances.
