Splice

Splice is one of the best magical skills for avid sword wielders, allowing them to quickly strike a severe and painful blow from a distance using their blade as a catalyst. The wielder stands in place and charges MP energy directly into their blade without elemental infusion. When charged, this energy is released with a specific gesture of a forward swinging motion, detaching the energy from the blade with the same retained size and shape of this charged magical aura. This flying two-dimensional white line of magic that exits the blade zooms forward through the field quickly and is not affected by gravity. This splice line as it is referred to then cuts and drills through the intended target, inflicting a very heavy amount of slashing and piercing damage that easily leaves a mark despite the protection of the veil, damaging and debilitating the person cut by this glowing white magical line of magic. The wielder can create two separate invocations of Splice with a single blade using double the magic in such a quick motion, or they can generate two Splice lines at once by mixing the spell with two swords while dual wielding. Splice can be created with any bladed weapon, including daggers. But larger blades will lead to larger power levels in the invocation process.

Side/Secondary Effects

The skill only inflicts magical slashing damage, but has a strong piercing property in the Splice line that allows this line to cut through any tough armor as if to ignore the effect entirely. This as well as the power level and effect of Splice is what causes any human target a great deal of slashing and burning pain should they be hit.

Manifestation

The white line launched from the blade travels forward without falling to gravity, and makes a searing hissing sound as it travels through the air. The white glowing line of magic is very hot to the touch despite not containing fire elemental magic, and has a two-dimensional curved shape that often matches the shape and size of the weapon it was launched from. The Splice line drills through the target like a holographic light display, not stopping or slowing down for anything. However, strong enough physical barriers can stop a Splice line in its tracks.

Gestures & Ritual

The user of this skill can only disperse this Splice line by slashing their saber through the air in front of them, which will determine the direction and angle that this line will travel. It is in theory possible to merge Splice to a physical strike that cuts through an opponent to begin with, but this will not change the effectiveness of the skill.
