Symbol Scanner
Symbol Scanners look and behave very much like metal detectors, and are installed in governmental buildings and Eldora Tower's first floor as a means of detecting illegal magic marks or symbols that are installed in a wielder. These scanners enable the instant detection of symbols on a person's skin that would otherwise go undetected by the eyes given the cover up of clothing or other methods.
Utility
This device enables a deep-layer scan that highlights the holographic and magical signatures that are put out constantly by magical marks, acting like an x-ray to the body in search only for these symbols without the need for a strip search, and all without using x-ray radiation technology.
Mage Jarvis presented the idea, but the equipment manufacturing project was a joint effort between the council's security department and the United States FBI agreement.
Access & Availability
These machines are mounted into the floor of most governmental buildings, but are expensive to install. They are for extra security purposes.
Complexity
These scanners create a feedback scan of a person's physical essence. It can detect active magical auras and active holographic displays through multiple layers of metal and fabric. Most symbols are always active on the skin and cannot hide or fade away, so many wielders take to covering up their marks with clothing to pretend like they are unmarked.
Discovery
These were invented by an outsourced security firm and presented by Mage Jarvis of the mage council in 1963.
