Synch Boost

Synch Boost is a multi-aura spell with almost no data in the official book of spells or the government archives. Thought to be a lost spell or one newly invented, Synch Boost has the unique modifier of sharing one magical aura with another magical aura from another wielder. When invoked, Synch Boost simultaneously generates two support auras that offer no protection or damage amplification. Instead, the auras attempt to match the wavelengths of the internal personal aura of each pair it is used on, which also causes the mental thought processes of each person to further synchronize and match up.

The idea of the spell is designed for teamwork; the auras are separate but operate on the same exact magical wavelength for the total duration. In effect, this encourages the mental thought patterns of each wielder to closely match up. As a result, emotional states may also match up, as will the natural instincts and reflexes of both persons affected by both auras. In an unorthodox manner, the sharing of personal auras makes it much easier for two wielders on the same team to coordinate an attack or evasion sequence together without slipping up or making the wrong call. Because strong instincts are shared, the often randomized risk of making a mistake or invoking a spell which would disrupt the partner's spell is dramatically reduced. Both wielders become like-minded temporarily, which makes it easier to properly coordinate a strategy or motion. The wielder that cast the spell is determined to be the host of shared state of mind, for the duration of the auras. Synch Boost is a stand-alone aura spell.

Side/Secondary Effects

Given the nature of this technique, the skill will work better with like-minded people, or between two wielders whose thoughts or emotions are currently operating on a similar pattern prior to being affected by the spell. The spell in question attempts to bind these similarities together, causing behavior patterns and mental thoughts to become even more similar to the other wielder than before. Of course, that means that the process can backfire and fail.

If two wielders trying to use Synch Boost are not able to think like-enough, or if their emotional states are in near or total opposition of each other, Synch Boost will shut itself down just two or three seconds after it starts up. Even for different people, Synch Boost will always initially attempt to start and link up, but that is no guarantee the auras will last. The process cannot be forced; both wielders must allow their personal auras among many other mental thoughts to link together, achieving a state known as mental synch. Mental synch is a fairly intimate phenomena that is rarely achieved in nature. This spell simply brings out the process and makes it a lot easier to try.

When Synch Boost is running, the synchronicity must be maintained during the full 45 second maximum life cycle. Before that time runs out, the aura link can still fail if for any short moment a mental separation occurs. Wielders practicing Synch Boost may have a good start, only to differ too much on expected behavior outcomes, causing a surprise or shock that ends the aura link instantly.

In other more rare cases, Synch Boost doesn't just link mental patterns, instincts, and emotions together, but also something rarely referred to as personal auras, not to be lumped in with magical auras. A personal aura refers to a total collection of intangible memories and feelings saved over the long life span of a living soul, and can often not be affected or touched by any magic. Personal auras are beyond magic, thought to be something that is part of the invisible make up of a living soul inside of the body. So when Synch Boost tries to connect these personal auras together with the assistance of magical aura synchronicity, the rare phenomena may occur in which both wielders' memories are briefly shared in quick flashes or surges of mental activity. The extent of this sharing is always only in part, but much information about this is unknown with limited data. Because of the risk of sharing memories with each other, wielders often shock themselves out of the aura link having not expect this little side-effect, and seldom wish to try it again considering the level of detail such a link would provide in terms of unexpected mental intimacy.

Manifestation

One wielder invokes this aura on him or herself, while simultaneously casting a mirror of that same aura on their partner. This is designed to be used on a team of wielders. The auras in question have a strong oceanic blue color with a fairly transparent glowing texture of energy.

Discovery

Claudia Stone managed to master this spell. Considering the unknown origins of the skill and data collected by the trainers, it is thought that Synch Boost is either a lost spell, or one created within the last 100 years.

The skill itself is not easy to learn, so years of practice with a trusted partner is required just for the mastery of the spell. And then there is the already mentioned requirement of maintaining the mental synch after the initial invocation of the skill.
